I've finished writing an essay, and I would really like someone to edit it. I will email it to anyone who'd like to read/give much needed criticism on it.

It needs to be your words/thoughts. Not someone else's.

Spell check for grammar/syntax.

Jordan2019, it's great that you want to get another pair of eyes on your essay. (Peer review is ALWAYS helpful.) Best advice is to ask someone who knows you better, as the person you are, so that they can comment on your voice, your tone, your clarity and so on.

It must be a generational thing, but you don't know what kind of folks are on the forum. Really not a good idea to ask someone from the forum to read your essay.

I agree with the last 3 posts, especially Jcleppe. Think about it why would you trust such an important item to be edited by strangers that you know nothing about, especially their educational background.

I am also someone that does not believe peer review is a smart decision. It is akin to the blind leading the blind. They have no more educational experience than you.

OOPs I meant Member...brain fart.....another example of why you don't want a poster to edit it.

I would ask your FFR ( I think they are the equivalent of a BGO or ALO)

Agree with other posters. I'm an English teacher, but I only looked at my son's essays for grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling. He took the essays to mentors (i.e. a retired general West Point grad) for content. I suggest you look for someone who knows what West Point is looking for and ask for his/her feedback.
