Have not heard a peep from our DD even though we have sent 15 letters ( we have a big family) already. Has anybody heard anything from the cadets in Max 5?

3makes6,

I too haven't heard from my boyfriend in Max 5 but I found out why. Have you been writing FTU 2, FLT (whatever their flight?) Because if you have, they probably aren't getting the letters.

I just learned that you have to write FTU 5, because that's their Max number. That way, the letters will get delivered. I sent out a letter priority mail last Wednesday the 16th and it arrived Friday, but it was sent back to me yesterday as "unclaimed."

Hope this helps.

Our DD had originally given us the FTU 5 part of the address and told us to wait for a call regarding her FLT. Then when my DD was on the bus headed to Maxwell last Wednesday she called and said her phone was about to be taken away and that the FTU was 2 NOT 5 like she had originally given us, and then she gave us her FLT. So that's what we put on the letters. We have not had any returned at this point. I'm confused.

DS is at Max4. I think it took about 9 days for us to get his letter after he sent it...so best advice - be patient. Its great when you finally get word back!

Thanks, good advice; did you have any issues with the address?? FTU 4 vs FTU2 etc.?

Interesting. I just called AFROTC and they spoke with someone at the base who said it had to have the Max number on it, so FTU 5. I'll send it that way and see if it's delivered.

Based on what we used, you should use:
FTU 2, Max 5, ??? FLT
I think it will still get to them if you don't know their FLT (flight)

FTU is used for identifying the staff at Field Training. The first unit of staff members were in command for Max 1 and Max 2. After Max 2, they went home and in came the second unit. They are there for the remaining 3 encampments.

That's what I've been told.

All I can say for sure is that all the letters that my DS sent to friends at Max 3 that did not include the Max number came back (6 in total), but after re-addressing them with the number 3 on them they were all delivered. So far all the letters we sent him at Max 4 with the Max on it he received.

Got our first letter from our DD. Written over a few days starting at TD3. It was mailed just this past Friday the 25th. Basically needs LOTS of encouragement, having a rough time. The pressure is enormous...has a bit of a sense of humor, not much mind you. Hasn't shown up on our door step yet. Being that it is TD13 today, any words of wisdom to pass on to her would be of great help to her and us. Thanks

Several Cadets at Max 4 were given wrong information and were told that their address was FTU 2 when, in fact, it should have been FTU 4. We mailed everything to our son to FTU 4 and it all made it to him and we did not have his flt information. For Max 5, you should be sending it to FTU 5!

Yes, that's what happened with me. The two letters that I sent priority mail with FTU 2 were sent back to me. I'm hoping the last one with FTU 5 will not be sent back to me.

Glad to hear that you've gotten word back! I've had two of my letters returned and I'm hoping that the last one sent with FTU 5 will not be returned. Will you be attending the graduation parade? I'll be driving up there.

My boyfriend is also in max 5 and I have not heard from him yet. His parents and I have also been in contact and they haven't heard anything either. He originally told me to put FTU5 but right before he got his phone taken away he said FTU2. I also heard from another Cadet, from an earlier max, it shouldn't matter what number you put. It should all go to the same place.
I sure hope it does! I'm sure they have a ton of mail to sort through during this time. Hope this helps!

That is exactly what happened to us. My DD had originally said to put FTU 5 but just before her phone was taken away she called and said put FTU 2....I re mailed every letter with both FTU 2, FLT Delta and Max 5...I sure hope this gets to her. It seems to me that there is enough identifying information that regardless these letters could get to her no problem. She did say she received one of the letters so why not the rest. This is incompetence or laziness on the part of the base mail-room. These kids need to hear from us, it almost feels as if they are making it difficult for the kids to get their mail. When my husband was overseas he said mail was sacrosanct.... you got you mail no problems EVER. I am pretty upset about this.

I'm sorry you are having this experience. I sure do hope your DD gets all of your letters soon! They do need our letters for support.

I completely agree with you. I have called the Maxwell post office dozens of times to try and get them to explain why my first letter was returned and they NEVER pick up the phone. Even USPS was puzzled that they don't answer the phones. I've heard that the mailrooms on bases are crazy busy, but I still don't think it's that hard to deliver mail with identifying information.
