Hello All,
I am currently a sophomore and have been researching USAFA (as of right now I aspire to be a student there someday). I lettered freshman year in soccer and plan on doing it all four years. I also am the captain of a non school, competitive, club team. I am curious if I should plan on trying to letter in another sport (probably Track) at my school in order to make my future application more competitive, or would just lettering in one sport be enough.
Thanks

Does your club team practice year round? Are tournaments year round?

I would think you might want to consider adding another sport if those two qualifiers aren't met.

Yes My club team practices year round. My club season is in the fall and during the spring and summer we have tournaments. However adding track to my schedule would not be a big deal and might actually be quite enjoyable. If a second sport would boost my application I would definitely consider adding it.

That would probably be a good idea for your conditioning, Newb.

Fencing season begins in September and ends in July, so August is the only month when one isn't fencing on a regular basis (so that's when the camps take place).

Club sports which are competitive are excellent. Can you get some leadership experience there? Team president? Scheduler? Not sure how yours operates but consider running a class for beginners, teach others how the competition season works, etc. Or maybe even better, run a class for new parents.

Yes, I am the captain of my club team and I could help run camps that my club puts on for younger kids.

Thanks for your responses...

You may also wish to consider starting/participating in a non-athletic club as well. USAFA is looking for well-rounded individuals. Be sure you do something because you enjoy it, not just to make your app look good. Best wishes.
