And most Majors with an average of about fifteen years service. Five years from retirement and most should have been designated as career field grade officers somewhere along the line? They give them nine months to transition to civilian. Nice of them.
 
I wonder how long "retirement at 20" will last. Oh retire at 40 years old, get a federal job and collect two checks, both funded by the federal government.

Nine months, paid, isn't horrible. It's not "great" but they're going into a better job market than they would have a year ago.

yes on LTCs and COLs - forced retirement. Can't recall how many, something like 100 LTCs and 50 COLs. I suspect the board itself will make some LTCs to retire rather than going through the board process, so the actual reductio will be bigger.

As for general officers, I doubt there will be any separation board. They are all important . . .

One thing I've learned in my career is, as manager, if I'm not the least important member of the team then I haven't hired the right people.
