New to the forum, and I apologize if I'm asking the question in the wrong place. Our DS is applying to USAFA and is finishing up his nomination applications. He took the SAT twice, and ACT once, doing much better on the ACT. However, on the 2nd SAT he did raise his overall score from the first time, but lowered his math. When he filled out his MOC application he reported his best scores, essentially superscoring it. Does that mean he should have both SAT scores sent along with ACT score to his MOCs Or, should he just leave the SAT portion blank and only send ACT scores? Thanks for the help.

Just my opinion, but I would send ALL scores for all tests to MOCs and USAFA. USAFA does superscore, but not all MOCs do. Some superscore, some only look at best sitting, some will look at best of ACT or SAT, some will look at both tests scores. Some will inform you of how they look at the scores, some will not.

If he filled out the MOC app with SAT scores, I would def. send the official SAT scores that support what he filled out (so in this case it would mean sending both scores.)

Thanks for the advice, he just wants to make sure he doesn't leave anything undone or open to scrutiny. He thought about only listing his ACT score on the application, but decided that maybe he should show he took didn't just take one standardized test one time and call it good.

Since most MOCs' applications vary from each other, it is difficult for us to answer your question. Some MOCs consider superscored entrance exams and some don't. If the application instructions indicate you should send all ACT/SAT scores, then he needs to send all. If the directions are vague, then he can send only his ACT scores. The MOC staffers can then verify his ACT scores. I don't think that superscoring the SAT will be a deal breaker unless the instructions specifically stated not to.

Welcome to the roller coaster! Enjoy the ride.
