As I recall there was an announcement that only 1 gift shop will be now accepting the AOG discount. Can anyone advise? Thx

Probably the small gift shop in Doolittle Hall since that is the AOG's building.

When visiting last year, the Visitor Center Gift Shop cashier told me they were going to stop giving discounts. *Sigh* Hope she was wrong.

Will try Doolittle Hall, thx.

We were there over the 4th of July and the Visitor Center Gift Shop no longer accepts the AOG card for the discount. The only one that does is the shop at Doolittle Hall.

I was told the AOG and the Academy Gift Shop are competitors. Each shop sells unique products. None are shared. I visited both a few weeks ago and this held true. None of the items for sale in the AOG Gift Shop were available in the Visitor Center Gift Shop and vice-versa.

Keep in mind there are items that are in the Visitor Center Gift Shop that you can't find online.

I was up there this past weekend and I spotted a really nice AF Hockey Jersey but I decided to hold off. I've since decided to pull the trigger and try and buy it online but I can't find it anywhere. I'll have to buy it the next time I head down there.:frown:

I've been looking for a nice Parents of a USAFA Cadet sticker for my car. The one that they sell at the AOG store is ugly. I saw one during an earlier visit to the Academy that I liked, but it was before my son had been appointed, so I thought I would be a bit ahead of myself buying it then (kicking myself now). Then, when we went there for in-processing, I couldn't find it in the store at the visitors center.

I can also confirm that the Doolittle Hall gift shop does honor the discount; the Visitors' Center does not anymore. They do not carry the same items and the things you see online are at Doolittle, not the Center. I have gotten car decals at the Center before but not sure what you're seen that you commented on.

If you go with your cadet you can get a military discount at the visitor center.

Also try

While touring the campus with your cadet on Friday, keep in mind the cadet store in Vandenberg. It sells a lot of USAFA schwag and not sure if it is the same or different than the visitor center. (Funds from the Visitor Center go to the athletic dept.) There is also a small gift store in the athletic house. Finally, you can usually find inexpensive USAFA shirts, caps and sweatshirts in both the Colorado Springs Costco and WalMart.

I had to call the AOG office yesterday for another reason, I asked about the discount at the visitor center and the gentleman said it was the Gift Shop that decided to no longer honor the discount. I imagine it is related to finding more "private" revenue for the athletic dept. since their budget was cut significantly. (see also parking fee for football)

Uhhh Not true...we went this past week-end with our DS...we were told by the cashier that they do NOT give discounts whatsoever!..

What a shame. Last time we were there that they did not accept the AOG they did give military discount.
