Well, here they are....

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...new-summer-white-uniforms-for-ohio-state-game

I'm not entirely sure how to take them. When I first saw the article, I though "come on now, this is just too much" but after looking through the photos I have warmed a bit. I even like the bit about the "shoulder boards" with their actual midshipman ranks.

Then I think "this is pretty dorky, it's not a military uniform".... and then "but it's kind of classy"..... and then "no, it's tacky." Is it a reminder that the athletes are also destine for military service or a publicity stunt to remind folks that the Navy matters?

I just wish they would stay consistent. Of course, this also means each season they'll need new uniforms with new ranks for the students as they move up.

Still.... interesting look. I guess at the end of the day, while I cheer for Army over Navy, I like this jersey decision.

I think they look classy-and-bad-assy!

OMG that picture is too funny.

I like them! I, too had to "warm" to them but I really appreciate that they resemble their actual uniform.

When I think of the service academies playing against other non-military teams I visualize the players (no matter the sport) kicking ass and taking names and then being very respectful. This has been something I always loved. The lack of penalties with SA is very obvious.

Go Navy! Beat Ohio!

Lack of penalties?

We might be watching different games. Service academies are packed with alfas.... who tend to want to win.

Those games aren't any more respectful or honorable than any other games out there. In some was it's a bit more intense.

Tacky. Gauche. Gimmicky. Almost as bad as Army's ACU uniforms.

You don't like the ACU uniforms? That's one of my favorite uniforms in all of sports. I really wish these navy uniforms had all white and gold on the helmets.

I think it's kind of cool that you could tell what year a player is by looking at his uniform. I mean, the rank thing is a bit odd, but I always like knowing what year a player is so I know how much longer we either a) get to watch him play or b) have to watch him play.

I didn't need to warm up to them at all. They are sick! The all white just looks so good its unbelievable! I wish I had jerseys like that when I played.

I was never sure how helpful giving guys cammo, having them run all together, and then asking a QB to figure out who was open or ready was such a good idea.

If good looking uniform helps you win, go for it. Otherwise, nothing but a distraction.

At least their uniforms won't look so similar to Notre Dame, especially since they both had gold helmets before.

The new uniforms are awesome. It's a game. They're fun. The ranks are a neat touch for the fan, nothing for the player. The class stripes are for us too. The players know what class they're in.

I find it a reminder to the public, tying in the purpose of it all to the game being played. I'd cheer for them though no matter what they wore. (Except one game a year!)

I'll have to say, I loved them. I was sitting on the Navy side at the game on Saturday, and it was fun to look at the "shoulder boards" to see their year. Plus, there is such a big deal made about the Summer Whites and the Mids do all look so good in them, why not carry that over to the football team?

Of course, this is our first year as a Naval Academy family, and I was attending my first ever Service Academy football game. They could have been wearing clown suits, and I probably would have thought they looked grand!
