Eye Exam

My son just had his physical and vision exam today. The physical went very well, the vision exam was not so good. We found out that he has 20x30 vision, correctable to 20x20. Now we are wandering if that means dodmerbs will say he doesn't mean standard, and he'll have to get a waiver. Or does 20x30 suffice? We are going to get him glasses.

It might mean he needs a waiver, you will have to look it up. IF I remember correctly, 20/30 does not need a waiver. If he wants to be a pilot that's different, but it is not a big deal. Vision waivers for just slightly poor vision are almost always guaranteed.

20/30 is WELL within the standard and wouldn't need any type of waiver.

Have not been posting lately but need to weigh in.

Depends on service. Navy and Merchant Marine require correctable to 20/20 in each eye. My DS was 20/20 both eyes but 20/20 and 20/25- individually so he needed a waiver.
