Hello all,

My AROTC portal status went from "Board Ready" to "Boarded". This means that I have been placed on the OML. How long until I know whether or not I received a scholarship from the first board? How long does it take to choose from the OML? Thanks for the help, and I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Last year scholarship winners received notification ~3-4 weeks after the board met. You should be able to see it on your portal.

So if my status says "Boarded" and not "Winner", does that mean I didn't receive a scholarship from the first board? Or does it take a couple of days to be entered into the system?

It takes a lot longer then a couple days, the board lasts more then one day. The process is not quick, every application needs to be scored by the board and placed on an OML. Only after that is done do they make the selections for scholarships. Once that is complete they start to input the information. There are only a small few at CC that does this input and it takes time. Once the input is done they will update the status pages. This whole process takes time, don't expect any results for about 3 weeks from today, and that might even be optimistic.

Patience is needed in this process. The percentage of scholarships give by the first board are low, many will be rolled over to the next board.

The second board will include all those rolled over and any new applicants that did not have their packet ready for the first board. Once they have the new applicants they will calculate a new OML that includes those rolled over and the new applicants. It is possible you could move down on the OML depending on the packets submitted by the new applicants. The same works for the third and final board.

As Pima has said before, keep an eye out on these threads -- they light up like a Christmas tree when the 1st (then 2nd & 3rd) board results go out.

I could be wrong...it has happend many times before ( just ask my wife:wink:)
But I do not believe "OML" is the correct term at this point. Those seeking scholarships are simply given a score and then compared to other scholarship seekers. I believe OML only comes into play when you are actually a cadet. To some this may be splitting hairs but I wanted to avoid any confusion for folks that are new here. Clarkson or Bama would know for sure.

I also concur with the expected notification dates. DS was boarded on the second board ( first week of Jan.) and notified 02/01. 3-4 weeks is the norm. If we are truly seeing a reduction in offers then it may be sooner but I doubt it since the board will still be ranking the same if not more applicants. I cannot stress enough proceed forward as if there is no scholarship offer pending. Also be prepared for a 3 year offer and not a 4.:thumb:

They actually do put the applicants on an OML based on their application score. I agree with you though, using the term OML usually refers to the MS4's ranking during accessions, at least when it comes to the discussions on this forum. It can get a bit confusing when it is used to refer to the scholarship process. In the past threads it's just referred to as the Oct. Scholarship Board.
