My applications shows that I was boarded! I was just wondering, if I recieve a scholarship, when will the soonest/las test I will know.

being boarded and receiving an offer are two different things. If you are boarded your file now has a score. Cadet Command will make offers to the highest scores until they meet the target number for the first board. If you don't get an offer then you have to wait until subsequent boards and hope your score is high enough to get an offer. Don't spend your college fund quite yet.

I know that there is a difference between being boarded and getting a scholarship. That is why I specifically put "if I receive a scholarship"
My question was when will I find out "if I receive a scholarship?"

If you're talking about AROTC, last year it was ~3-4 weeks after the board met. It should show up on your portal.

The soonest you will know is a couple weeks, and the latest you will know is April of 2015.

Patience is the key.

Boarded as well

My DS just checked and was boarded as well. Time to light a candle, hunker-down, and wait. As Tom Petty once said..."Waiting is the hardest part". Good luck to all.

Long time poster, but I think/believe we all could say 3 days, 3 weeks or 3 months, the fact is they are not going to believe anyone impo and check everyday come Friday. Next week it will be 2x a day. Two weeks from now it will be 3x.

The minute the first person starts a thread of I GOT IT! It will become hourly for days.

It will also start the new thread of Is it over? a few days later when it hasn't changed. Which will result in the same answer clarkson stated....April is when it typically is over.

Just saying we have walked in your shoes and clarkson is right. Expect April.

Let the others spin up and hover like Snoopy over the dog bowl while you make sure plan B, C and D are in place applying for every scholarship available to you.
~ I.E. if you live near a military base, many of them have a Civilian/Spouses Club (Officer and Enlisted). They offer scholarships (1 time, and it ranges from 250-1000). You do not need to be a military child or ROTC, it is merit based. Even with a ROTC scholarship it is not 100%, that money can be put towards whichever you don't choose...R&B if you took tuition. Tuition if you took R&B.

Just saying if I was any candidate, let somebody else doing that and trust us here. Give it 2-3 weeks. Also if I recall correctly it is usually Thursday/Friday a.m. that they release the bulk. I would spend this time searching for unique scholarships, eating pizza with the family and hanging out playing Xbox over the weekend.
~ IOWS I would make memories because nobody ever looks back and says a year from now I should have hovered more, They say I should have made more memories

Off my soapbox...back on track to throwing my opinion in the circular filing cabinet and hovering!

IIRC, it was right around Thanksgiving last year when the first board results came out. Maybe the weekend before and then the letter showed up the next week.

Not sure if that was a little later than usual. I do know that last year's first board was delayed a little due to the gov't shutdown.

Please please please....

everyone CALM DOWN.

Please make sure you have your:

PLAN A, PLAN B, PLAN C, AND PLAN D in order before your knickers get in a twist here (Your FENCING knickers, of course). As is often said, you are on step 45 out of 1,916.

Last year my son was awarded a scholarship after the first board. He received an email on 11/20 which was about a month after the board date.

Ugggg DanGir....and thats when the stress started!

tru dat

I know you applicants don't believe this now...but for some of you (hopefully none of you) finding out early is problematic.

You find out months before your school acceptance but only have four weeks to indicate your school+scholarship choice...

Boy if that isn't the truth, that's why a lot of advice says to apply to schools you're sure you will be accepted if you think you may be selected for a scholarship on the first board.

More times then not an applicant will list a couple of reach schools on their application. The problem is that some of these schools have trouble filling their scholarship mission due to how hard it is to be accepted. CC gives you a scholarship to one of those schools and if you are one of the many that don't get accepted.....you're left scrambling to try and transfer your scholarship, not a guarantee.

Remember, CC does not know or really care if you've been accepted, that is all on you. These boards are alway busy with applicants getting information on how to transfer their scholarships once they have accepted them.

Best of luck to all of you.

My DS is now BOARDED. Just received a couple of emails this morning from ROOs at a couple of schools he listed on his AROTC application. The emails were encouraging him to apply to the school now during early action. I guess this is all a very good sign that positive things are going to happen through AROTC for my son.
