Hi everyone,
I'm in my first semester of AFROTC, and I'm enjoying it very much. Although I need practice of getting out of my comfort zone and command presence (which will come with experience I'm sure) I am in a dilemma of dropping the program because of gpa requirements. I didn't realize that they were so strict on grades, so it has a really bad effect on me considering my first semester college I got a D,W,F, D, and B. But since then I made up all those grades. So in short, my actual gpa in college averaging out to be a 3.0 exact, while in the program its calculated as a 2.3 because they take into account EVERYTHING. Which is very unfortunate for my situation. I know that a 2.5 is minimum requirement and a 3.0 is competitive. I was told that to get my 2.3 to a 3.0 in the program I need to aim for a 3.5 each semester until I compete for field training my second year in the program. Currently I'm thinking about dropping a class which I know counts as an F in the program.
Any thoughts on whether or not I should just drop it now even though I'm half way into the semester? What are other ways for me to be in the Air Force?
