My DS was just informed that he did not meet medical standards for NROTC yet he was granted a Wavier for the very same thing for USNA. What do we do at this point?

Is NROTC just saying he does not meet the standard, or are they saying they will not submit a waiver request.

I guess the other question is, have they already submitted a waiver request and it was denied.

DoDMerb status this morning read "Under DoDMerb Review" and this
afternoon is says "Does Not Meet Medical Standards" DS was granted a Wavier
for the USNA for the very same thing now being "Does Not Meet Medical Standards" for NROTC.

ROTC and the Academies each have their own waiver process. I would have your son contact his POC in NROTC and find out if they have requested the waiver for NROTC.

In both instances he did not meet the standard, however USNA granted a waiver. This doesn't necessarily mean that NROTC won't, but that would be his next step. Just because one grants the waiver doesn't mean the other will or should. Each one has it's own mission for number of Ensigns to produce each year and the number of waivers granted each year does affect that number. Since Ensigns aren't as needed as they were a few years ago, waivers aren't as easy to get (in some instances). This doesn't mean that I would stop trying, just stating reality these days. Best of luck

Just wasn't patient enough...status now says "Pending Wavier Submission/Review" So we will hang tight and see where this goes. Thanks everyone for your responses.
