I am scheduling my interview at my top school. My top school is not on the list of closest schools in my geographical area. The message: Should you choose to take your interview at a location not listed here, please coordinate with your High School Program Point of Contact (POC). I have already been in touch with my top school for my interview, but have yet to interview. Do i need to talk to the POC before scheduling at my top school or can i just go ahead and schedule. Also, who is my Program Point of Contact? How do i contact them and why is this necessary? Thanks for the help! P.S. any interview tips would be greatly appriceated! Wardrobe? What to bring? What should I call them? Sir? Thanks.

What Branch??? High School Program Point of Contact sounds like Navy. If so...snorkel, fins and a speedo is appropriate dress:)

Actually, some advice from the Army side...dress well, Sir is the way to go, and feel free to bring a resume (but not required). Relax and make sure you have some smart questions to ask when given the chance. You want to be able to explain why you want to be a XXXXX Officer, and I would recommend your answer doesn't include anything about wanting free college.

When you say dress well? Is a suit overdressed or would khakis and a collared shirt be good?

Some people wear khaki's and it's been fine, but my DS wore a suit. My motto is it's better to be overdressed, than underdressed. When he showed up for his interview, the secretary looked at him and said, "Woooo! You look nice!" So, it definitely made a good first impression.

So who is my point of contact? Is it my guidance counselor or someone through the army i need to notify? I have already been in touch with ROTC at my top school choice, and they have offered for me to complete my interview there. So is all i have to do is verify with them must i contact someone else?

That is the only person that you need to contact. My DS interviewed with his first choice school and received his scholarship on the first board. He wore khakis and a nice polo.

Good luck to you :thumb:

Interview

My advice is to interview with a PMS (not a ROO, APMS, SMI) and one that is not ROAD (retired on active duty), has a high energy level, and likes you (and will give you a good write up). You can be the best candidate in the world but if you get a bad interviewer, you are put at a disadvantage.

You think you cannot control what I write above, but you can....

My DS contacted his #1 school of choice and set up the interview. He wore a suit. He ended up getting a 4 year scholarship and was able to use it at that school.
