Did we wait to late NROTC scholarship.

Originally my dd wanted to go Navy or Coast Guard and she went to AIM this summer and did really well but decided she wanted to go NAVY instead. Now.she has everything going for her with Varsity sports-excellent GPA and class rank-JROTC and leadership etc but her SAT scores and ACT put her at just minimum qualifications. So talking with recruiter she has good chance at msisr scholarship. My question is she didn't apply for national because sat/act scores. Should she have applied for national or is that reality really not foreseeable. Something about those tests throw her off yet since freshman in a large school she has ranked top ten and 4.0 and above all years and 4.1 at moment and has taken honors and AP classes.

The only way you're guaranteed not to get a scholarship is to not apply. It's not too late if she moves quickly. They look at the whole person so if everything else is outstanding it might override her minimal SAT/ACT. She probably still has time to bring those scores up as well. Practice those tests or get some tutoring on how to take them.

Don't know what MSISR is so no way to comment on that.
 
If I recall correctly both of my daughters started the process in November of their senior year in HS and both received scholarships (we were sweating bullets late April). Actually, may have been later, as I see I joined this group mid-January of their senior year. But, a big reason I think they received it while submitting so late is that the school they put as #1 so happened to be a school that had available scholarships.

Based on everything I have read, the NROTC scholarship selection and school selection process are two distinctly separate events.
 
True, they are separate events. But, if you are applying late as my girls were, there has to be a scholarship available. I would imagine that if they had applied to a popular NROTC program, then they possibly would not have received the scholarship.
