So I recently got a letter saying I didn't get the nomination from my congressman. I doubt I got one from either of my senators because I'm from Texas and there are sooo many good candidates here. Is the Vice President worth applying for or should I just apply again next year?? I heard they only give out 2 Vice Presidents

Everyone should apply for the VP nom! The VP slot at the SAs is similar to MOC in that the VP can have 5 candidates at each SA at any given time. While the VP nomination is a long-shot, everyone should apply for it and it's very easy to do. If the SA really wants you and you don't have another nom, it gives them another option. Why leave that option on the table?

Does anyone know how many apply for VP usually

TX is competitive and rarely do they ever duplicate. In other words those on your Cong.slate will most likely be on the Senators. I think maybe every year there is a poster that might get two noms from TX, but it is rare.

Of course you apply for the VP.

I think you should go to the nomination forum here and look at the stickies. You are confusing charging with being on a slate. The VP can only be charged at any given time 5 cadets. However, once you have the nomination, USAFA can bring you in from the national pool.

If you do the math between MOC, Presidential and VP charges, they are only half of the incoming class appointments.

Apply for the VP, but also be honest with yourself. If you have not applied for an AFROTC scholarship get on the ball now because their first board will be meeting in a few weeks. I don't know their cut off date for the Dec. board, but you might still have time.

Good luck.

the application for the VP nom shares a lot of stuff with the SA (they use the recs from that application and don't request more), all you have to do is fill out is a few basic info questions and an essay. Note, at all three of my MoC nom interviews they were pleased that i had taken the long shot to apply for the VP nom

Go to the nomination forum, it is @7 below the USAFA forum. Once in there, there is a sticky that says nomination FAQs.

You will feel much better if you do some research and understand the nomination system, which includes charging.
