I am an MS1 cadet in the Army ROTC program and my instructor just sent me an email telling me to make time during my summer because I will be attending Cadet Initial Entry Training (CIET) at Fort Knox, KY. Can anyone please explain what CIET is? Obviously its an introduction to Army ROTC but what will I be doing? Also, by attending this training, does that mean that I cannot go to CULP over the summer? Thank you.

Attending CULP will depend on when you are scheduled for CIET. If you are selected for CULP they can definitely try and work it around your CIET dates, but no guarantee. If you aren't able to do CULP you can do it next summer. The majority of CULP cadets are in between their MS2 and MS3 years so you would be fine to try again next year.

I hope you asked these questions of the battalion leadership before you came to an anonymous forum.

Maybe an anonymous forum feels safer because you don't have to admit when you don't know something to those who might think you should.

Realistically, I don't think anyone has much good info on CIET yet because it's a completely new thing. There is some info out there, but it's still early so I don't think anyone will know too much.
