Hi,

I'm in the middle of a medical remedial. All I have to do is send in some paperwork, but I have a few questions.

1.) At the top its says I don't meet standards because of a mango allergy and idiopathic urticaria (bad stomach upset). Then it asks for basically any papers for the urticaria and for a lower back problem I had this summer, but then not for my mango allergy. I'm confused because they included my allergies, but didn't specifically request forms, so I'm wondering if I still have to send them in.

2.) Also, for my lower back pain it asks that I send in the extent of my participation in athletic/recreational activities. I'm wondering how specific I have to be. I'm a dancer, so I was involved in various dance productions and recitals, as well as working out at the gym. Would I have to go into detail on what my gym routine was and the specifics on my dance?

Sorry for all the questions, its just that I have an LOA and this is my last obstacle!! Thanks!

I don't think they care if your allergic to mangos. They won't be force feeding you mangos so I doubt they count that as a DQ

Moving this to the DoDMERB forum where your question will be seen by more folks with DoDMERB experience.

Hey there,

Something similar happened to me. The remedial description for my banana allergy was incomplete -- like it wasn't even a complete sentance, so I emailed lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil who is a rep at the dodmerb who helped put the last piece of the puzzle in. Like one of the above posters said, they won't be force feeding you mangoes, but if you're trapped on an island with all your mates and all you have left are mangoes they need to know that you're allergic so they get rid of you first :shake:.

I'd expect to have to get a IgE test (allergy test) in the near future if there isn't enough personal info on your mango allergy.

As for going into the specifics of your dance routine, as much as I don't think that it is necessary, if they said "send in the extent of your participation in athletic/rec opportunities", it couldn't hurt. At least be sure to tell them what you can (or can't do) i.e. How far you can bend over without feeling pain etc. Etc.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me -- and CONGRATS on the LOA! It's an achievement to be proud of for sure.

Wishing you nothing but the best in the application process / merry Christmas / happy holidays!

I can't really address your question, but just as an FYI, idiopathic urticaria is not an upset stomach. Urticaria are hives, and idiopathic basically means from an unknown cause. They are asking about your allergies.
