and am triple qualified. what are the odds of receiving/not receiving the appointment to the USAFA? He was also nominated for the USMMA, pretty sure there will be a medical DQ on that one.

Thanks!

Triple qualified??

How do you know he is triple qualified?????

After my son received the nomination, he sent an email to the AOL (? I get all the abbreviations and acronyms messed up) asking if there was anything else he could do to further increase his chances of appointment. The AOL responded:

Try to get another nomination, it will increase your chances of getting the appointment. But with one nomination you are now fully qualified for appointment having met all other requirements (DOD-MRB, PFT, Academics). Not much you can do at this point except sit back and wait, the process is pretty much out of your hands.

I am assuming that means he is trip-Q right? I guess I could be wrong, it happens more often than I let my kids know!

Yes it means he is 3Q.

The ALO is right, there is nothing he can do now, but try to get more nominations. Make sure he continues to have plan B, AFROTC scholarship in place.

thank you. yes, he has applied AFROTC, AROTC, and was invited to compete for the Citadel Academic scholarship.

We really can't say whether your child will be appointed, or not, without a lot more information, and even then, we can't really say.

Still, better to be a 3Q'd with a nom... since without either, well, you know.

If they are qualified and have a nomination, the chances are a over 50% that they will be offered an appointment. Now, that is purely rough odds and does not account for the strength of their application. Obviously, if you are min performing on one or more categories, your chances are less than someone who boasts strong academics, test scores, athletics, leadership activities, and did well in interviews and essay writing!

Here is the admissions breakdown for the class of 2017

Applicants 9,706
Candidate Pool 6,967
Qualified Candidates 2,277
Offers of Admission 1,475
Total Admitted 1,190
