If a candidate has an LOA and a nomination has shown up in the USNA admissions portal online, how long is it usually until the appointment arrives in the mail?

I was wondering the same thing! Also, how long did it take for the nomination to show up in the portal?

It depends. Sometimes, your MOC will call to congratulate. Sometimes you will find out when the BFE arrives. When that happens is anyone's guess. I can assure you it will probably not happen as soon as you would like. :) Hang in there and good luck!

I am a LOA recipient for USMA and I received my nomination 2 weeks ago tomorrow. My BFE arrived yesterday so it only took USMA 2 weeks to process my nomination and send my offer. While I know that is USMA and USNA might be different, I thought I'f share my experience.

From what I've read, it seems to take USNA a little longer than USMA. Not sure about the actual amount of time though.

From nom showing up on DS's portal until BFE arrived was 10-14 days for class of 2018 so I think the timing for the academies is about the same from that perspective. It did take a loooong time for the nom to show up in the portal at USNA vs USMA, however, so total time was faster for USMA vs USNA (just one data point).

I had an LOA and my first nomination showed in my portal on Oct 29, and my medical waiver was cleared on Nov 15. One of my senators called me on Nov 16 to say the BFE was coming soon. The BFE arrived on Nov 30 and was dated Nov 24. So if it's been about two weeks/14 days, and you've got an LOA+noms, waivers, etc. then the appointment should be getting to you pretty soon!

My nomination was received by USNA on the 5th of this month, it showed on the portal a week (the 12th), and admissions called my Congresswoman's office on Monday to advise that the BFE was coming in the mail this week. So from receipt of the nom to confirming the appointment, it took a little over a week, and I think it'll be around two weeks elapsed time for the BFE to actually arrive.

Congratulations to all of you! 19!

Or a little longer, keeping in mind the holiday rush at USPS.

DS received his noms on the portal on dec 3 and 5. Calls from MOCs dec 12 (on our way to army navy game!) and 2 more this week. Just waiting for the BFE!!!

Question: When you say the portal are you referring to the access point of your online application? Thanks!

Yes the portal would be the online access for your application

How long after the nom decision did it show up in your USNA portal? Days? Weeks?
Thanks!

For USNA I got a letter from the senator on the 10th dated the 8th. It showed up in the portal on the 15th, so approximately a week.
