I've noticed that NROTC scholarships are already being handed out, has anybody received an NROTC Marine Option scholarship yet?

And the second and final set won't hit until late March or early April. Yes, it's plenty of time to make your final college decisions and execute alternate plans in the case of a negative reply.

So proud to report that my DS was personally presented the NROTC Marine Option scholarship certificate this morning at school (New Jersey) by his marine recruiter, Captain Smith. What a great Christmas gift!!

Congratulations! Not many are given out by the early board. Now the hard part begins, followed by a hard OCS and a harder TBS! Good luck to him!

Congratulations! I believe you are the first to report.

Hope it was to his first choice school.

Let us know if you have any question on the next steps. As I remember, you should get a packet via USPS with details and an acceptance to sign. You will have to schedule a DODMERB physical and go through that process. The journey is just beginning but it is a great one!

Merry Christmas.

Congrats! I'm still waiting to hear back. Has it been updated online for you yet?

8th MCD early board reporting in

DS got a call from the CO & XO of the RS in OKC. He was awarded the MO Scholarship. He was informed he'd be getting paperwork in the mail and to have a Merry Christmas.

He is currently a freshman at OU and is a college programmer. He's on the endurance team, rifle team, and drill team.

He is (and we are ) very relieved to have gotten the news this early.

Congratulations on the scholarships! It seems I read somewhere, probably on these forums, that the sideload scholarships are processed separately from the others. My DS was a College programmer, and I know once he got his scholarship it was a big relief off of his shoulders. Now he enjoys telling people "The Marines own my a%%". He is quite proud of that.

What a great way for ya'll to add extra holiday cheer!

This actually was the 4 year "outside" scholarship and not the sideload. The unit had not initiated any of the sideload paperwork yet. We're all just relieved that he didn't have to wait until the spring board.

I was just notified by the officer from RSS Chicago that I have received a Marine Option Scholarship. He told me that the school will be decided next week and all awardees will be notified their school the first week of January.

Great news! Congratulations!

Congratulations to the scholarship winners. Your hard work has paid off. What a great way to help celebrate Christmas and the New Year! :thumb:

Hello from a lurker who decided to register to reply to this thread.

My son was pulled from class today to go to the guidance office. When he got there the recruiters were waiting for him with the news he was awarded the scholarship! This is in Minnesota. They told him he will get paperwork telling him which college sometime after Christmas.

We are so proud of him. Thank you to everyone who posted pointers and tips about this whole process. It is much appreciated.

Congrats to all of you scholarship winners so far! All of us applicants in Houston are still waiting to hear back. Hoping for good news!

I agree, this forum helped so much during the process.

Last week, my area received averages but neither my friend or I has heard anything else. Will they tell us if we did not receive the scholarship?
