Army ROTC scholarship questions

Hi. I am currently applying for an Army ROTC scholarship. I have learned Mandarin Chinese for five years but unfortunately you cannot major in Chinese at Texas A&M University (you can only minor in it). Since I can't major in Chinese, I put down that I will be majoring in international studies on my Texas A&M application. This may be a problem because on the ROTC application, there is no option for majoring in international studies... only international relations.

My questions are: What is the difference between international studies and international relations? Why is that? Do I have to change my major for A&M to match my ROTC application?

Also, I heard that there are tiers for scholarships and they are given out based on those tiers. Could someone tell me if that is true and/or explain the tier system?

Thanks.

I'm also going to Texas A&M, and according to the newsletter sent out by Colonel Hawes, any major change or question about ROTC can and will be taken care of at your New Student Conference.

I don't know much about Army ROTC, but I do know that if you need to change your major at A&M, it is easy to do so as long as you aren't switching to business or engineering

There is no Tier System for Army ROTC, the scholarship is the same for any major (Other then Nursing).

Changing your major in regard to AROTC will not be an issue since IR is in the lowest ADM, you could change to any major in your ADM or any major in a higher ADM.

You could talk to A&M and see how best to list your major, as far as your scholarship application you should be fine.
