Is the SECNAV nomination given to all qualified enlisted applicants automatically? Or if they receive the nomination are they assured an appointment?

I am pretty sure once completing your CO'S recommendation and SECNAV nomination portion of your admission application that yes all qualified (by the criteria listed in the instruction) enlisted applicants are given the SECNAV nomination. So yes there are requirements. But no I don't believe they are assured an appointment. They compete as well to receive an appointment. I am an enlisted applicant and have a SECNAV nomination but no word yet on an appointment. I believe if you are young enough (which I am) you would head to NAPS. Which I personally would prefer. Are you an enlisted applicant. If you have any questions and I know the answer don't hesitate to ask anything I went through the application twice as an enlisted applicant.

I'm an enlisted applicant too. I have everything in and saw the nomination on my page today, I was just hoping it meant more than I checked all the right boxes. Unfortunately I'm too old for NAPS so I'm crossing my fingers for a direct appointment.

Hey that's good you have everything in. Have you been in contact with the fleet coordinator? He has always been helpful for me. Enlisted applicants bring a different degree of competitiveness to the table. I have my fingers crossed as well. Let me know if you hear anything. What's your rate where are you stationed?

Will do. I hope you get in as well. I've been in contact with my BGO for a while and he's been a tremendous help.

I am an HN, currently only 19, recieved my SECNAV nomination in September and recieved an LOA in early December. Yesterday I recieved my appointment letter! Good luck, you two! Looking forward to seeing you guys!

Congratulation to you! My son is a Marine and has his application complete with a SECNAV nomination and he received is MOC nomination just before Christmas. Hoping to hear soon.:thumb: May I ask you a questions - How were you notified? By mail or did they let your CO tell you? I apologize if I used the wrong terminology.

Your son should definitely hear soon, cas! My CO notified me of my LOA and then I recieved official appointment packet in the mail. In most cases I believe the CO informs the applicant of their acceptance.

HNRJD, thank you for your response and again congratulations to you  My son is a reservist and is a full time student, we think that he will be notified at drill in January. He was told by admissions in early December that they want him to take Calc this semester.

That is awesome I am still waiting for the word. You got a direct appointment or NAPS ? If you don't mind me asking

My DS (USMC stationed in Japan) was given his LOA by his superiors. Then he received notice of his medical waiver directly via email. Blue folder followed shortly.

ENavy, congrats on your appointment. I'm also a fleet applicant in the Marines right now. If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me your SAT score and gpa? just trying to measure myself right now. I also got the SECNAV nomination but still not word on an appointment. And did you get into NAPS or was it a direct appointment? Thanks

I got a direct appointment. My GPA was 3.6 and my SATs were 680 for Math and 730 for Reading. I also got my congressional nomination. Did you get any other noms?

Enavy2012, just a quick questions. When was your application complete? Just trying to get an idea on your timeline. Hoping my DS will hear this week or next. The Fleet Admissions coordinator told him he would hear the middle of January.

I finished my application mid December. I heard back from my congressman / BGO last week but haven't gotten any letter or anything yet.
