FY16 OML Model

I talked to DS briefly about the OML scoring over Christmas, and his response was pretty simple,

"I'll do the best I can with the opportunities given me, I cannot control how people evaluate me or worry about where I'm going to fall on the list, too many variables. If I get active duty, that's great, if not then there is plan B."

Do cadets get to find out their scores any more or are they just notified of active duty / reserves.

I've guessed what his score would be, but don't have a clue what the cutoff score was this past year, and even then it wouldn't compare evenly with next years.

They do not release the scores anymore, they simply are told at Branching if they received Active Duty or not.

Since your son is in the ECP and will commission this Spring but will not have a branch yet, will he be taking the new standardized tests and will he be branched under the old system or the new one after he completes his 4 year degree.
 
It has been eluded to that they will have to take the tests, just not when or where. I'm guessing the summer after his junior year.

Their accession window is the fall of their senior year, just like a "normal" cadet, so he will still have 1 more year of GPA and APFT scores and EC activities to add to his score.

So his score will be based on the FY16 OML.

I did read his contract over the break and it states they have the right to access active duty, with nothing regarding the needs of the army. So if they do change that it will have to be on new contracts, at least in my mind.

Thanks for the information.

The contract sounds about the same as the one my sons signed, the issue is how the Army defines the term "The right to". As it was explained to us with our first son was that they have the right to access Active Duty, not the guarantee. Even if the ECP program mirrors the traditional 4 year program, there is no guarantee of Active Duty, even at the SMP's. The USMA is the only program that guarantees Active Duty. I hope it works out for your son and they allow him to compete for Active Duty with all cadets in his Year Group.
 
Oh yes, we definitely know that nothing is guaranteed. He knew that going in, thus having a plan B from the very beginning.
