Just wondering how everyone else in NY is doing. What NOMs and LOA/Apt's given. I currently have a NY-27 Chris Collins Nom and pres. Nom.

Have not seen any NY appointments other than 1.
Good luck!

I have a Nom from NY-18 Sean Maloney and an NJROTC Nom. Hoping to hear back soon!!

Also, my friend from school got her BFE in September/October & she's not on this forum.

Awesome!!! I hate playing the waiting game, I check the mailbox everyday hoping there is something.

I want to see more NY appt's come in as well! I'm from NY-17. Hope both of you get good news soon!

Yes! The waiting is excruciating! My son has a nom from NY-22 Hanna! I have only seen one NY appointment as well! I'm wondering if it matters at what point your application was 100% complete?

Good luck to all!

Yes, because the USNA has rolling admissions which means if your application was done early the earlier it will go through the board and you will find out your fate! I completed mine about Mid October (Not including NOM's, Nom was received Dec. 14th.) and I'm still waiting.
It's like waiting for Christmas, just 10x worse!

Wow!!!!! Hopefully good news should be arriving soon. My Fathers good friend is the equivalent of a "BGO" at the AF Academy and he told me usually 70-75% of the appointments go out around late Jan-end of feb. So hopefully we will see that BFE sitting on the porch pretty soon!!

Thanks!! When I looked at my original post, which I edited, I was incorrect in that my son's application and everything except the nomination was done by September 22nd -nomination posted on his application on November 24th!! I hope you are right!! Thanks for the words of encouragement!

So here's my question...My DS has been 100% complete with his package, including the presidential nomination (and since then, two more sources were added), passing CFA scores, passing Dodmerb, and all test scores, transcripts, etc....100% complete by September. 1

Our hope was that the 'earlier the better' scenario would really pull in his favor since his test scores would be on the low end of admissions. Now that all those early boards have come and gone with no appointment, does it still matter that he was green across the board by September 1? Does it even help him at all now?

93Sir - IMHO, a 100% complete package by Sept. 1 is helpful on the margin if comparing against others who have an otherwise identical set of qualifications. I am curious, though - did your DS take additional SAT/ACT tests after Sept. 1? I ask only bc you said "...his test scores would be on the low end of admissions." and tests are superscored across test dates so any improvement in English/CR or Math would be added to his file even if it was 100% complete. There is also another SAT date on Jan. 24 that he would count and is still available though you would have to pay late registration fees at this point.

Best of luck -

We live in the Central New York area. My plebe and two other midshipmen in the area "worked" our local shoulder rub event on 29 Dec. Among the local candidates there were 3 kids that had already received their appointments. All had LOA's and non had a principal. Another kid in the group did get our Rep's principal so there is a good chance there might be 4 new plebes from the CNY area.

We are also from Central New York- District 22. Unfortunately, we were unable to make the event. I'm wondering how many appointments are given for our area? I'm not really sure how it works. Is it a numbers game. I have heard that LOA recipients are often athletes and don't necessarily "take a spot" from our region but I am not sure if any of this is accurate. Does anyone know?

Do you know how that is determined? Does that include LOA recipients and recruits athletes?

I think getting your file done earlier only really helps, if you have a super strong file across the board, as there is the potential that the Academy would grant a LOA, awaiting a nomination source. If there are areas of weakness, such as lower test scores, then I would venture to say that getting the file complete early will have no bearing, as the Academy would then wait to see who has the highest WCS of the 10 nominees in the district, before making the appointment offer.

Not quite sure. I just know that for Congressman Hanna there are two appointments. 3 have been put into each appointment and the USNA will choose from those.

Nawshin - Trying to understand your statement above - Do you mean Hanna has 2 open slots this year (of 5 allowed at USNA in the brigade slotted to each MOC)? And has 6 people that applied for nominations and Hanna uses competitive slates (not ranked, no principal)? In any case, remember that just because 2 slots are available to the MOC, it doesn't mean that more from NY22 can't get appointments from the national pool if they have high WCS.

Yes he has 2 opens slots of the 5 this year. Not sure if he uses competitive slates. I just know for each slot he nominated 3 people ( I am one of the three). And yes I know the other 4 will be put into a national pool
