Still waiting for nomination?

Has anyone not been notified of their MOC nomination yet? I had my interview in November but I still have not been sent any kind of letter about a nomination. On his site (Pete Olson, TX-22), it says that if you are denied, you will be sent a letter early to make academic plans. Does this long waiting period mean that I will probably get it?

You can always try calling his SA coordinator and politely asking whether notifications have been sent out.

I believe the MOC's have until the end of this month to turn in their slates so maybe they haven't announced them yet.

Try emailing the MOC coordinator. (My DS received this at an informational meeting earlier in the process).
Also many MOC's do a press release and post on their website the nomination list. A little Googling may help determine if anyone else from your district has received a nom yet.

My DD received a letter dated 12/22 form our Congressman that she was receiving his nomination, TX-3. It has not updated in USNA portal yet and nothing has been posted on internet or Facebook. She hasn't received anything from our Senators either. She has an LOA and 3Q'd so we are just doing the best we can to be patient wait on the BFE. Good luck!

As was stated earlier, the slates are not due until Jan 31. The long waiting period may or may not indicate you are likely to get it. All it really indicates is that they probably haven't decided yet.

In our district, last year the nominations weren't announced until January 30! I called the coordinator last spring and tried to explain to her how I thought this might hurt a kid's chance from our district if available slots had already been "found" for athletes, etc. She seemed to think it fine, since the deadline was the next day. Interviews were in November as well. In our situation, my son is so uncertain of his backup plan, that we have spent a small fortune on applications to ten other schools. I envy those who got noms early and were lucky enough to get the BFE soon. Now we are spending this weekend on FAFSA and the nightmare form called CSS for private schools. Hopefully it will all be in vain and DS will get a nom, and if a lucky one, a BFE. We feel your frustration! Too bad the deadline isn't bumped up earlier. Our packet was complete in August. Have hope! It's not January 31 yet. Good luck!

While I also envy the early noms, I do not think it will hurt your chances, unless you have already received a letter of assurance or principal nom. I think the academy waits until all nominees are chosen before choosing from the pool, so it is still fair. I have a friend applying to USAFA who received a nomination late November but is still waiting as of now for the final decision.

If you receive a nomination you should find out about a week or two after your interview. I found both of mine a week after....

I don't think that is necessarily true. It may in some areas of the country it might but certainly not all. In our state, just as a singular example, Senatorial interviews were held in early September and most of those candidates are just beginning to receive word on their nominations now.

Don't despair yet. Like I said in my earlier post, your district may be like mine, which does wait months to announce nominations after the interviews. My district office told me on the phone they will announce the slate at the end of January, like they have done in years past. If you are unable to find out a projected date on the phone, try googling for newspaper releases of the nom slate in years past, and maybe you will see a pattern. Good luck and chin up! It's not a done deal yet.

Talked with Navy Admissions Friday to ask when the portal might update because nomination was received on Dec. 22nd. I was informed that they had until Jan. 31st, as stated above, to turn in slate. They then looked up my DD's info and told me that our Congressman turned his slate in last Monday. I was informed that my DD was receiving an Appointment and we should be receiving a BFE within the next week or so. We are very excited to get the news. My DD can now move forward. She is an athlete and has been receiving some pressure from other coaches telling her that they are going to have to give her scholarship money to some one else if she could not make a verbal commitment before months end. It has been a stressful ride, but God is good.

If I may ask, what are the stats for DD? Accomplishments, GPA, ranking, test scores, CFA? Also, congrats on the appointment. I envy the same feeling.

DD has same stats as many others on forum. 3.96 GPA, Top 20%, 8 letters, captain 2 years in sport, community service, good test scores, passed CFA, National Honors Society, Blue Chip Athlete, etc. She has worked very hard during her high school career in all areas, but again, many on this forum have similar or more accomplishments. We feel all of her opportunities are a blessing. Good luck!

DD only took ACT. Don't remember breakdown but made 28 overall. Only took twice.
