Congratulations! We are hoping to hear news like that too :)

Was it snail mail? Or email?

Email from her BGO and received BFE the following day.

Yes, she has one nomination. And actually just completed interviews with the other 2 MOC's, but their letters aren't out yet.

Do you mind sharing her stats? GPA, Test Scores, recruited athlete? Curious what qualifies a "napster" these days! Praying DS gets something!! Congrats to her :D

GPA 4.3, 7 ap classes, otherwise all honors classes. Varsity athlete with 6 letters, captain 12th grade. (Will not play in college). Has had honors calculus, honors physics, honors chem. National Honor Society. HS is in the top 10 nationwide for academics. 1000+ community service hours (church, non profits, mission trips, tutoring, poll worker, etc).
SAT 2020 (math being lowest).
Can't remember CFA numbers, but it did include 3 pull-ups (girl). Overall a good and competitive CFA.
Has one nom from MOC. Other 2: granted interviews but they have not sent out any noms yet.
Best we can figure, math scores on SAT and at school are not A level and that was the deciding factor, but who really knows?
Regardless, we are thrilled at NAPS and happy it wasn't the TWE. What's an extra year when you want a Naval career anyway?

Wow!!! She's a rock star! How exciting. AND...happy to know that NAPS is taking triple Q'd kids. So much for that theory. :0) Did the invitation come in a TWE by any chance? Congratulations to all of you!

Wow, rockstar indeed :)

Seems contrary to the line we've been given about prep being for kids who are deficient in one (or more?) areas. Your D seems to be pretty qualified all around!

Seems contrary to the line we've been given about prep being for kids who are deficient in one (or more?) areas.

"Deficient" is probably too strong a word. NAPSters and PrepSters are typically exceptional young men and women. Things that can tilt one towards a prep program are weak math SAT; weak h.s. (so you're taking the AP courses and getting As but the school itself is weak so there is concern re your level of preparedness for USNA); great scores and poor grades (which, in combo with teacher recs might indicate poor study skills); etc.

Most are varsity athletes b/c 90% of admitted students are varsity athletes. However many, like the OP's DD, are not recruited athletes.

She got a BFE, with the offer in the nice blue USNA folder. But she knew the day before via her BGO.
And we do presume it's her math (630) that was the decision maker. The other factors mentioned above do not apply.
Happy, excited, and ready to go!

Did not mean to imply the candidates themselves were deficient...just some aspect of their record might not be up to par.
