USAFA Appointee Tour Invitations

There was a recent thread or two asking about appointee tours. DD just received an email from Admissions offfering the opportunity to attend an Appointee Day Program. There is a link on the email to reserve one of the following dates:

Friday, 3 April
Monday, 13 April
Friday, 17 April
Monday, 20 April

The day includes briefings for appointee and parents, tours, and the opportunity for the appointee to shadow a cadet for three hours, including attending two classes and the noon meal formation/lunch. Tour day runs from 0800 to 1600.
 
I also received one! I'm still an LOA recipient (my nom interview was this past Saturday) and am wondering if any other LOA recipients received the email as well??

Yes my DS just got it also, and has an LOA. Still awaiting nomination. Our MOC's seem to be waiting until the final hour. I think maybe it is a mistake as the last "Appointee" email was.

Yes, you may be right. USAFA mistakenly sent out letters regarding criminal background checks to LOA holders a couple of weeks ago which they later corrected.
 
Definitely go on one of these if you can. These tours last year were only offered to applicants who had been offered an appointment. Since you don't get the "normal" college experience of helping your son/daughter with dorm and course selections and the big move in day, I felt USAFA did a great job of explaining what your child would experience during their time at the academy. My son had been to many camps at the academy and I don't know if he learned anything new, but it was very valuable for my husband and I. He did get to shadow a cadet for the day and I think it gave him more confidence about the academics that he would be facing.
 
DS accepted his USAFA appointment 3/3/15 and we would like to schedule an appointee tour, but he hasn't gotten an email invitation. He's accessed his packet online but we aren't finding it there either. Any pointers?

If its like last year, they'll send an email & letter.
 
I think it's common for people with LOAs to get the email because In the email it says congratulations for your appointment/Letter of Assurance. Hopefully you get it soon! I got my invite like 4 days after my appointment. Hope it shows! I'm going :D
 
Go on one of these tours if you can; they're great and you get to meet *gasp* real, live cadets! You may be lucky enough to shadow yours truly. :coo2l:
