I will be attending the CVW and I am not sure what to pack for the weekend. I also do not own any khaki pants that fit me and do I bring snacks for the mid or not?

I would suggest to dress for the weather that is expected the weekend you will attend.
Others have said don"t wear jeans or tennis shoes.

Other Plebe's have commented don't wear any "Navy" emblazoned shirts etc...

So dress casual but nice.

Bring sleeping bag and pillow.

OP's have said your host will love snacks like home made cookies, brownies etc..

Any plebe's or other Mids please chime in.

If your parents have the personal finances, would recommend a pair of khakis. Could you borrow from a friend? If not, a pair of slacks or jeans would work. If you wear jeans make sure they fit well (not falling off, but not skinny jeans either), clean and no holes. Check the weather and wear a shirt/jacket appropriate for the weather. I remember plenty of kids coming in jeans, button downs (tucked in), belt and loafers or deck shoes and they looked just fine. Part of this process is interviewing along the way, so an investment in khakis, slacks, and a nice shirt for congressional interviews, meet and greats, BGO interviews, college nights, etc are probably good investments. Shop thrift stores, sales, etc. You can look good, without spending a ton.

When I went to the CVW in November, I arrived in black slacks, a nice shirt, a light jacket, and my comfy black boots. Think of what you'd wear if you worked in a major department store or a nice restaurant. I brought a few pairs of black pants and a few nice shirts for the casual walking-around and going to class and whatnot. I brought a pair of yoga pants, a loose-fitting solid-color t-shirt, and running shoes for when my host and I went to go do physical fitness stuff. Also, I brought a notebook and a few pencils so that when I went to class with my host, or during the tours/briefings, I could take notes. Aside from that, make sure you have a hair brush/hair ties (if your hair is long like mine), toothbrush and toothpaste, pillow, blanket/sleeping bag, water bottle, and the typical "personal items". I was told to bring a swimsuit and towel in the event that we went to swim class, but that ended up not happening. And I was also told to bring shampoo, conditioner, and body wash incase I wanted to take a shower; since we didn't do anything that involved rolling around on the ground, and we were out on the Yard more than we were actually inside the Hall, the need and time for a shower just didn't come up. Just make sure you shower right before you go, and you'll be fine. Also, you might want to bring a phone charger, just incase... But who wants to look at a phone when you're at the Naval Academy?!
Have fun :) I wish I could do another CVW!

My DS is going to do a CVW at the end of February. Since we live in Southern California, we are cold weather/snow ignorant. I am not sure what outerwear he should bring for the cold. He has a hooded sweatshirt jacket that he can bring and I was thinking about a lightweight waterproof jacket that he could layer on top of that to keep him warm? And what about shoes for the snow? I don't really want to go spend a lot of money on stuff that he may never wear again.

Most of the time it is NOT snowing in Annapolis. Even if it is, the mids wear the same shoes they wear on sunny days. So, for your DS, "normal" shoes are fine. In terms of cold, a heavy sweatshirt will generally work -- the only times he's likely to be outside are to transit to/from class and maybe some PT (in which case a sweatshirt is great). Typically, it's not all that cold in Annapolis, even in February -- although there are the occasional days . . . :D

Regular shoes are fine. Heavy sweatshirt is fine. If weather projections are bad, bring some gloves and a hat. The wind can be cold off the water! I was also a Cali kid who thought winter clothes completely entailed "a hoodie and putting on shoes instead of flip flops" when I went to USNA. If you purchase a lightweight waterproof jacket it wouldn't be a bad investment as he will eventually get civilian clothes again and that is one item that he would need eventually.

Thank you to everyone for their suggestions. I feel better about advising him on what to pack now.

Just a heads up if you're going this coming Thursday-Saturday (29-31) the forecast is snow and cold, barely above freezing. In a way I'm elated because it's going to be beautiful but in another sense it is going to be very cold. I'm packing kakhis, tennis shoes, boat shoes, long sleeve dress shirts, a long overcoat for the cold, and of course work out gear. Looking forward to seeing other hopeful candidates there.

Don't sweat the dress code. Show up in what you think is nice; just make an effort to look presentable.

Just don't show up in pajamas.

Also, don't show up in a JROTC uniform. It may be tempting. Don't do it.

You're not a midshipman and you're not a plebe. Don't try to act like either.

Ask whatever questions you want. Professors, upperclassmen, officers, and enlisted will all give you their best answers. Again, you are not a plebe, they will be happy to talk to you.

Don't try to impress anyone. The midshipmen don't write any evaluations and we have no say in Admissions. Just take the chance to ask good questions and take in the atmosphere of the Academy. It's different from Summer STEM and Summer Seminar, and it is the best representation of the Academy you can get without being a mid.

I am currently active duty, have an appointment for the class of 2019 and got invited to the coming up CVW from the 29th-31st. I should just wear civilian clothes? Also, does anyone know anything about parking?

Good Luck and I can't wait to go!

HN, would recommend appropriate civilian attire, but you can verify with the fleet coordinator in admissions. Also, when you arrive at Gate 1 there is an office there, check and see where they recommend to park. Alot of parking is marked for faculty or Firsties. They can tell you where guest parking is or give you a pass for some other designated parking. Hopefully you get a prior enlisted escort for your time around. If not, highly recommend you ask your escort to hook you up with one. I think getting their perspective (especially a direct admit if possible) is key for you in your prep. Congrats and good luck!
