My DS is applying to the academy but did so very late in the process finishing his application and taking the CFA this last Friday - is this too late? He is in the national guard and got his nomination through his company commander.

This is my first post so wanted to thank many of you who have helped educate me on what my son going through. Many thanks!

Some Reserve and AD appointments were mailed mid-January. I don't know if there will be another round of prior service appointments. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum. It's never too late as long as it is before the deadline. There are a large number of slots, about 200 every year, for active duty, reserve and national guard Soldiers who wish to attend West Point. From my understanding, prior enlisted cadets tend to go to the United States Military Academy Prep School, USMAPS, so that they can get reacquainted to academics so as to be better prepared for the academic rigors of West Point. Best of luck! :thumb:

Hurry....

You'll never know unless you finish that application up. Did he get a recommendation or a nomination?

Push Hard, Press Forward

What your son needs to do is finish the application. It's good that he received his commander's endorsement. I was told by my liaison that there is no rolling admissions this year for soldiers so we will find out in the first wave of appointments at the end of February. Good luck

Got it in the portal

Thanks everyone! DS finished his soldier application about a week ago and he checked the portal tonight and shows accepted.

Soldier applicant here...wondering what part of the portal shows youve been accepted? And what were their act scores and GPA for soldiers admitted to USMAPS?

Don't worry, worry is feeding the negative thoughts, think of the day when you get that BFE, think of your new life at the academy. 500 is nothing of the 1400 packets that will be sent out! Yours will come. My first ACT was a 23 in math, my file wouldn't have even opened had I not taken the ACT another 4 times and made a 30. Good luck.

Does anyone know the month of the absolute last SAT/ACT one can take to be considered in their application file for appointment the Academy? January, February, March, April or May of my senior year in high school?

There is no "last official test", just that the official scores must arrive before 28 February.

That means if you were taking the ACT without the essay in February, your scores might make it in, or they may not depending on how fact ACT grades and sends them. Similarly, you could have taken the December test and waited for the results before deciding to send them. If you requested that score report too late, and those scores arrived 1 March, they wouldn't be counted. Again, it's the date that the official scores arrive in admissions, not the date of the test.
