As I've already sent out my application, I am pretty sure I'll be receiving the TWE since I neither obtained a nomination nor am I a recruited athlete. Chances of me getting into NAPS and Foundation are pretty slim. What will any of you suggest to do afterwards? Reapply?

[Responding to your assumption you will get the TWE . . .] First of all, embrace your Plan B. If you read the "Second Time on the Roller Coaster" thread, you'll see that quite a few folks found true happiness/satisfaction at their Plan B schools. There are many paths to success and several to becoming an officer; the fact that USNA doesn't work out is just a minor blip on your path to success in life.

If USNA is still your desire, start your reapplication and then see what happens. The second time may be a charm. But, per the above, along the way you may find that you are called to a different path and love it.

I am considering reapplying but the idea of starting as a plebe all over and staying an additional year seems to be the conflict. Do the mids look down on those who've attended NAPS or Foundation?

Im in the exact same boat as you. Right now i'm just keeping my fingers crossed on NAPS, working on some plan B stuff (for VMI you have to do another medical/physical) and preparing for a reapplication run.

I can't speak about NAPS/Foundation, but i know for normal college transfers they are not looked down upon at all (I am getting that information from my BGO and my host MIDN from CVW, both of whom were transfers.)

I went through a year of college and kind of thought the same way. "What will people think of someone who has done a year of college?" When you get here though no one really cares about what you did before I-Day people focus on what you are like while you are here. There are loads of people that have done college/nuke school/naps/priors so you won't be alone.

On the contrary. The current Commandant is a NAPSter. My son roomed with a NAPSter and a prior during plebe summer. He said that they literally saved his bacon a hundred times. They are the only ones who know what they are doing at first. And like the other poster said, once you are there, no one cares where you came to from. They just want to know that you do your part and work well within the company.

USAUSA and USNAco2019hopeful , why are you so certain you will be receiving your TWE. Are you SURE you did not receive a Nom? Did you apply for a VP nom? Have you received an official letter from both Senators and your MOC?

I received a letter from my MOC in December stating that I would not be receiving his nomination. In regards to the Senators, I am aware that people in my state have already been informed that they received a nomination. I have heard nothing whatsoever from them and my portal remains the same. I assume I did not receive their noms but I will be calling their respective offices tomorrow to confirm. I did apply for the VP nom but those odds are probably the slimmest out of any of the nom sources.

why not do ROTC and reapply?

That is my current plan of action
