DD "encouraged" to add supply chain management minor in order to increase chances of getting active duty. She is currently getting a double major in French(fluent) and journalism. The SCM minor would add at least an extra year for the required courses and prerequisites. I don't want her to feel pressured into something she's not comfortable with but she wants active duty. Will her chances for AD be jeopardized by staying on track in her current degree programs and graduating as planned?

Doesn't make sense to me how an SCM minor means anything unless it has to do with the special branching program, specifically for logistics. Does she want a logistics branch? I say getting a 4.0 (fluent in a language as a major tells me this wouldn't be impossible) and a 300 apft (or close as one can) is a better bet for Active.
 
The minor won't help active duty chances at all, unless you're meaning that by adding the minor she will stay in school longer thus giving her time to raise her GPA or something?

It's definitely a bet, but its not getting any easier to get AD.

The average GPA for ALL who assessed this year was a 3.2, and for those that got AD it was a 3.4. Is she near that or have some other strong areas that can compensate? Anything below a 3.0 and it will be extremely tough, and based on her majors I don't believe she'll qualify for the special branching program (or whatever it's called). A 300 APFT also won't compensate for a significantly low GPA either, it just simply doesn't carry enough weight, though it can help.

If that's her cumulative GPA I wouldn't stay any longer than what's currently needed to graduate. I don't get why the cadre (if that's who is encouraging her) would be encouraging her to stay longer with that GPA. There is a good chance she will be in the Top 10% (if she's got a decent amount of points in the other areas) and able to select her branch.
 
APFT score could be better. In the 240s. 2 mile run is slow but passing.

A friend of mine got Active Infantry with a 4.0 and a 220 APFT and not many extracurriculars. Your APFT doesn't mathematically count for much, it's just used as a benchmark for judging a JO. She could likely get AD easily but MI may be difficult, its a very in-demand branch.

With a 3.97, that APFT is fine. I think she should easily get AD. Like FMB said, MI could be a little harder to get, but with such a high GPA she could be real close to the Top 10% of the OML, in which she would be able to get her first choice. She would need to be fairly strong in the other areas though, and she should be able to get an idea of where she stands from her HRT when it comes time to complete the accessions process.
 
Thanks FMB and Bull. FY16 OML Model with decrease weight of GPA will make the other components more important. My expectation is she will be a better officer by focusing on portions of the OML she may not have been as concerned with previously.

One issue with the new OML is Academics and the ADM. Cadets that are majoring in an ADM 1 or 2 will not get full points under academics. The top OMS they can receive is a 96. Because these cadets will start 4 points behind, the person who counseled your daughter may be looking at ways to increase her chances since GPA will not be as important. Tell your daughter to make sure and study hard for the ROTC Exam that will be given at CLC, take practice tests for both of the standardized tests that will be given. Try and get an article or two in the school newspaper or other publication, join a group that has some public speaking required, try and find a way to do some public speaking, possibly a debate club. These things can help make up points lost by the academic ADM.

Also, work on that APFT, try and get the highest score she can during her MS3 year.

The only way this makes sense is if her current cohort is stacked and migrating would put her into a less competitive cohort. Not making sense to me.
