Hello I was wondering what the more competitive areas are in the country.

I live in the northern Texas area and was wondering if it one of the most competitive.
Thank you!

Call the office of your district's congressman and ask. I did that with mine, and was able to find out some really great information about the level of competition in my area - including what sports, average ACT, class rank, city, etc.

They may not release this to you, but it might not hurt to ask.

I'm not sure I'm only a sophomore and haven't applied yet. If you know how I can find out beforehand that would be helpful.

If you live in Celina you're either in TX-03 (Sam Johnson) or with Ralph Nader. Sam Johnson has an extremely competitive district, encompassing most of North DFW. Probably one of the most competitive in the US. Do well in school.

Oops, I meant Burgess not Nader. I don't know where that came from.

It seems like TX-03 is a more competitive area. I actually live just south of you and in TX-03 and received a nomination from Sam Johnson. It looks like TX-04 spans a bigger area with smaller towns, but TX-03 houses some of the most competitive places in North Texas, which is already pretty competitive as is (I was told this is a more competitive area than most). Work hard, always try to improve on what you have. Make yourself the best applicant you can. Good luck to you :)

Is John Ratcliffe a more competitive district (Tx-04)?

You have to quit worrying about things you can't control. Previous post said you are a sophomore. Do your best. Kill the ACT/SAT. Do well in school. Leave nothing on the table. That's all you can do.

Sledge beat me to it.

The most competitive district is whichever one you are in. The others don't matter.

Can you request nominations from more than your state senators, district representative, and Vice President or Is that all you can do?

Do you have a parent that is retired military, or currently serving with at least 8 years of service? If no, then Senator Cruz, Senator Cornyn, Congressman Ratcliffe, and the VP are your nomination options.

There are actually other nomination options for enlisted personnel, children of disabled vets, children of Medal of Honor winners, and participants in JROTC and ROTC. I don't think any of those apply to you.

I am in NC-04 and it is very competitive at least it was this year for USNA. Me and another kid from my school both applied with similar credentials. We are AP students, straight As, Eagle Scouts, leadership, sats with over 700 reading for both and we both had math SATs of 770. Our school pretty competitive as well and has produced 7 ivy leaguers and a west pointer this year so far. He is the varsity football captain and am an SPL of a troop of over 70. Neither of us have been offered appointments yet and are most likely waiting on TWEs in the mail. I'm not saying we are the most competitive since I don't know anything about the other districts but this has been my experience.
