How do you guys feel about Webguy?

Don't get me wrong, Webguy was wonderful during BCT. Since then, the sightings of our cadet have been almost nil. No doubt trying to capture 4000 cadets on camera is a daunting task, but still, when a monthly fee is being charged some form of service is expected.

Maybe there have been pics posted. If so, they escaped us. With the current system, one has to wade through hundreds of pics looking. We've done that, to no avail. Depending upon your connection speed and browsing platform, the pics take a while to load, and the process is tedious.

We will not renew after the doolie year, and wondered what you guys thought? As stated before, Webguy was on our list of favorite people during the summer. Now we feel that there needs to be a better way to find out when pics are posted of my son's squad. As the system currently operates, we are paying for a service that we're not using.

Thoughts?

The amount of pictures will rise and fall by the season and I always thought looking through them all was fun. Come Recognition time there will be tons of pictures to look at again. We got a lot of pictures of our cadet at Ring Dance, 100's Night, and graduation, too. I thought the money was worth it every year.

We found WebGuy to be a great value for Doolie year providing us with many priceless pictures. For us the value decreased significantly after Doolie year.

And just to add a small bit there is also a photo section for Prep as well. While they don't cover as much as Doolie year I have managed to capture 213 photos of my DS and handful of his close friends at Prep.

I have seen a decline of the value with Prep as well. But I am planning to keep if he makes it to The Hill next year beyond that I'm not to sure.

I never regret it. Webguy is awesome and have done amazing job. They response quick if I have questions or issue.

I love web guy!!!! I don't look through pictures much any more, but you can convert your webguy account into an AOG lifetime for your cadet. Something you may want to do after commitment.

Regarding recognition, webguy was severely restricted from activities my son's year. Not sure about last year. The run to the rock pictures and the dinner were there but not much else. They wanted to keep the shenanigans secret from future cadets.

We've been lucky to "spot" :yikes: our DS in a lot of Webguy pic postings....we originally bought the 4 year package...and the Webguy reimbursed us after our DS resigned after his 4C year to go on a 2 yr LDS church mission. The webguy allowed us to start the clock again when DS came back after his mission and only charged us the going rate in 2009. I'm sure as parents we would like to see lots of pictures of our kids, but again that's not realistic. I think its definitely worth the money for getting a glimpse of the activities/functions many of us can't attend...ie Ring Dance, etc..It CAN be tedious...but for my family, we make it a family night and play our version of "wheres Waldo/Aleks":lolatyou:
May I suggest if you feel that you're not getting your dollars worth to send an email to the Webguy and ask him :director: to take pics of whatever squadron/Flight if he can? I don't know if he gets a lot of requests from members, but I am sure he's up to his ears trying to get as much cadets in group shots whatnot as he can. :tomcat:

My wife and entire family enjoyed web guy through basic and it allowed us not only to see our son but allowed us to understand what he was going through. Being from a non military family it helped us transition. We have never gone back to the site since the conclusion of basic, however we feel the price was very inexpensive for the journey we witnessed. Don't even think about it, web guy in our eyes is a must have.

Agree totally with Montec. The pictures and insight that you get during BCT are absolutely priceless. For us parent's who can't quite let go all at once on I-day, the ability to follow your basic's progress was priceless. With that said, I've viewed a few pictures after A-day, but not many. In my opinion, still worth paying for the entire year. I may continue - even if the pictures are fewer/farther in between (thank goodness - I sometimes spent hours each day last summer looking through them!), it still gives you a window into the USAFA world.

I have to say that I have GREATLY appreciated the entire team of photographers that are part of the WEB-GUY TEAM. The coverage during BCT was absolutely AMAZING and for most of the events during our son's Doolie Year. However, although I still encourage everyone to pay the monthly fee of ($20.16 for the Class of 2016), I must admit that the coverage since the first year has been a little disappointing. I never saw any photos of my son for the "Commitment Dinner" and explained to the team of photographers, that I truly wish they would have backdrops and lighting and gets groups of 6-8 cadets and make SURE that everyone is photographed before entering those IMPORTANT events. I know it is difficult, but I figure if they would photograph groups of 6-8, they could take everyone's photos in about 200 group shots. Also, my son will soon be attending (along with the Class of 2016) their Ring Dance, and I will be very disappointed if I don't see photos. I would still pay for the WEB-GUY TEAM, because I have LOVED seeing all of the photos. I just would appreciate a more definite approach to capturing all of the cadets photos from a given class for their most important events.

It's been some time and I don't remember paying for webguy, but I would have gladly paid $25/mo to see pics of my guys (so, it would have been only $12.50 EACH for me. :) ). Recognition, Commitment Dinner, all of it. I STILL have pics on my frig from my sons' FIRST DAY at USAFA, and that was in 2008!

SPEND THE MONEY. You won't regret it.

Actually I believe it has gone up considerably. I'm pretty sure when we signed up this past year it was over $40/month for the next 4 years. With that, my son will get a lifetime membership to the AOG. Maybe there is a cheaper plan out there but I don't recall seeing it when we signed up.

My DS was at a private prep school this year and I would have paid $$$$ for even one picture of him. Web guy is going to be my new BFF and I don't mind paying the price. It gives your Cadet a lifetime membership to the AOG and having personal friends who are apart of the AOG they say it's worth it.

Hey, so I was going through my appointee kit and we seen the AOG package and the three different packages. My mum and I loomed at the little chart with all the check marks saying what you get in one package compared to the other but it was a little confusing to me. Can someone please explain the difference between the class club package and the family plan? Any advice in which is better/more worth it?

I'm not going to be too much help with this since we've got a life time membership through DH. We'll be getting DD a membership for graduation in 3 years.

So, the only advice I have is to make sure your parents can get Web Guy for BCT. I can't tell you how many hours I poured through those pictures to find DD. I think a have a couple of hundred -- and they're priceless.

We are also lifetime members through my '83 husband. You are paying for the AOG and the pictures are a perk. One of the other perks is Checkpoints. Its how we keep track of everyones classmates. I grab it out of the mail before my husband and I didnt even go to the Academy. Also - tell your cadet to go find webguy. If you stand in front of him, he will take your picture. My cadets did it all the time. I have several hundred pictures of each.
