Conditional LOA

My BGO recently informed me that a LOA has been sent in the mail, except that it was a conditional LOA. I have no issues medically, and I have two nominations submitted already. I am a fully qualified candidate as told to me by my BGO. What other conditions could there be that I might have to deal with when I receive the letter?

On the LOA there will be boxes marked for which requirement(s) you still need to complete. In your case I will assume that the nomination box will be checked since you have submitted it and not actually have the nomination yet. Once all the conditions on the letter are met then it will be followed by the BFE a few weeks later.

If I'm already medically, physically, and academically qualified, what are some possible conditions that I might still have to meet?

Did you receive any type of citation or violation of city ordnance (speeding ticket, following to close, etc.)?

Ok. I know that I'm getting the same type of conditional LOA, but I received a citation a while back. My file has to go before the character review board before the final decision is made. I suggest to check the DoDMERB website and just make sure that you don't have any waivers in the works. PM me or let me know on this thread what it shows.

Will do. Now that you mention it, I did receive a warning for having expired tags, but I didn't think that would show up as a kind of citation. I'll PM as soon as I get the letter and I know what it's asking me.

I know of no reason an LOA would be sent at this date unless there was a pending medical or character issue. All MOC noms were due to USNA by Jan. 31 and are submitted by the MOCs, not the candidates.

Could you please explain what you mean by "character" issue?

Maybe there is some inconsistency in your application that needs clarification?

When DS received his conditional LOA they were asking for the body fat determination. Didn't see that one coming. He was measured by the school nurse and we sent that form back that very same day. Two weeks later BFE arrived.

That's probably exactly what it is - my BGO said that they will most likely want to make sure I've stayed in shape since basketball season has ended. Thank you so much for your help. Did you know your son's body fat percentage was acceptable as you sent in back in?

Yes..I'm active duty Navy and USNA uses the same standards for body fat measurement. There's a Navy PFA (Physical Fitness Assessment) formula that we use to determine body fat percentage. Neck and Waist is measured for men. Neck, waist, and hips for the women. In the Navy if you don't meet the weight/height standards you get taped.

DS got an LOA contingent upon appointment AFTER his appointment showed up in his portal - BFE arrived about 2 weeks later. Sometimes things just get crossed in the system.

I didn't think they updated the portals for appointment news anymore? Where on the portal did it show up?
