Misdemeanor while enrolling

I hate to have to ask about this, but what is the current climate around contracting if you get a misdemeanor while in the process of enrolling. Last weekend I got a disorderly house and littering charge because of some stupid things that people I had over did. I am really broken up about this and am terrified that this means it's all over for me. Is it still possible to get a waiver for something like this?

Good thread to read but realize that it's from 2011, things were different then and waivers were a lot easier to get approved.

Are you currently in college and trying to enroll in ROTC, are you already enrolled in ROTC and are trying to Contract. A little more information is needed before anyone can point you in the direction you may need to go.

I am currently enrolled and trying to contract. This is my first offense of any kind and I'm in good standing otherwise.

Your best bet right now is to go and talk to your PMS ASAP. Get out in front of this now, don't wait any longer, if you do it will just look like you are trying to hide it. Your PMS is going to be the only one that will be able to answer your question and help/advise you in any way. All you will get from this site is speculation, which won't be of any help.

Did they just write you a citation or is there further action that needs to happen.

Sorry your in this situation but waiting any longer won't help you.

Let us know how things go.

What exactly is the disorderly house charge? Just trying to get a clarification on what the charge means, not the story of how you got it. The only one that can provide accurate information on your situation is your PMS, all cadet actions go through him/her.

I'm not a JAG, ROTC Cadre, or privy to your BDE CDR's or the CG's thought process, but if that charge is alcohol, sexual assault, drug, or domestic violence related, it is almost guaranteed immediate career ender (or in a cadets case career ending before the career starts). That goes for Cadets and Officers. That sounds harsh, but the Army today is in a different place than where it's been the past decade, and simply needs less officers.

Disorderly house is the same thing as a noise complaint for a party. There wasn't any alcohol involved in this case.

That is good. I'd talk to your MS Advisor and PMS as soon as possible face to face and let them know what's going on. A ticket alone is not going to end or prevent contracting necessarily, it's the type of ticket and background/underlying issues that will.

I agree with Jcleppe. Get in front of this now and tell your PMS. I don't know where you attend college, but it is not unusual for the local police to report students to the Dean of Affairs. The Dean will inform oher leaders within the college that the student had a run in withh the police.

In AFROTC you are suppose to notify the Cadre within 24-48 hours even if you get a speeding ticket.

You don't want them calling you in because they found out from another source.

Good for you for being up front about it. It's possible it may all go away depending on where you live and how your court system works...or maybe you can get the charge reduced to an infraction?

I was a police officer for 29 years and 21 of those in a beach community where I went to thousands of party calls. We rarely did more than shut down the party's but in later years, did issue more citations for totally out of control parties...especially if minors were drinking. All that being said, on the limited info you have provided, I would hope something this minor doesn't cause an otherwise worthy 'potential' cadet to get disqualified. Good luck to you.
