Hey guys

So I have confirmed my enrollment at USC and accepted the NROTC scholarship there, what should I be expecting? I'm actually a little concerned (not sure why) but when I went to visit USC and the ROTC staff the guy told me to let him know if I got in or not because the admissions office doesn't inform him and I emailed him about a week and a half ago and I still haven't heard back from him yet. I called and left a couple messages too. How does it normally go? Will they send out an email to all the new ROTC people? How will I find out my schedule? He also told me that we go a week before school starts so I was wondering for everyone whos done it before, what is that week like? I have so many more questions but I'm really excited for next year!

If you are referring to the real USC, sorry Kinnem, I'd wait to hear back from them. They are not the most responsive bunch. You will get an email sometime over the summer.
You will go through an orientation. Basically getting yelled at and learning how to drill. Not sure where they do it now.

Oh okay, so he knows I'm in but just not really responding I guess. I have emailed him a total of 4 times and have only gotten a reply from him once and it wasn't even for anything important haha while the other ones were.

The unit probably has or will soon have a gold bar recruiter - a recently commissioned graduate waiting to start his or her BOLC - who can provide abundant info on what to expect at the unit and what life will be like at the school. Seek that person out.

So who is your contact person at USC?

USC is "the real USC." It was there first. Its letters denote the actual name of the state. And everybody in a 500-mile radius calls it "USC" except those left-coasters from "the fake USC" who don't know anything about anything and don't answer their emails. ;) Right, Kinnem?

Actually, I operate the other way around. If I see USC I assume it's that little, and little known, West Coast school. I might abbreviate the real one as USC from time to time but I normally use it's full name so I don't confuse anyone from Rio Linda.

Pif,
Last time I checked there is a state name in both of them. You need to get your facts correct on which University came first or type in USC.edu and see which one comes up.
And what's wrong with my hometown Kinnem?

Only meant in jest sir as its a phrase often used by a radio personality.

Kinnem,
I was also joking. I am familiar with said personality.
I still haven't mastered tone in the written word.
Thanks for all you do on the forum!

I thought perhaps you were, but who knows? Maybe you really do come from Rio Linda. Somebody has to!!!

The facts are:
South Carolina is the name of a state.
Southern California is not the name of a state.
University of South Carolina was founded in 1801.
University of Southern California was founded in 1880.

I concede that "usc.edu" refers to California, however, "the real USC" will always be in South Carolina to me. :D

This is exactly the sort of dispute college football was invented to settle. Who's the real USC? Who's the real FSU (Florida State or Fresno State)? Who's the real CU (Colorado or Connecticut - winner gets to play Columbia)? How about a playoff system for Tigers (Clemson, LSU, Auburn and Mizzou)?

Time to hash this out violently between the hash marks.
