I am just curious as to if it is possible to transfer to a different school after Field Training for your 300 and 400 year?

Yes. Your current detachment commander and your intended new detachment commander must know your intention to transfer.

Why though?

That is a high risk impo.
1. Risking delaying graduation.
2. CoC ranking is a huge chunk for your AFSC OML.

Well its just a lot better school and the school I really wanted to go to since I was a kid. Also, all but one of my cadre members are leaving so I will be starting fresh with the cadre any way of course being with new cadets would potentially be a challenge. I honestly probably wont even bring it up to my cadre I was just curious as to if it was possible though.

My detachment has a lot of cadets that transferred from somewhere else (Never knew why). If your intended college is your dream school go for it. As long as you already got accepted to the university I see no problems. One of the cadets that transferred to my detachment got a rated slot so I don't see much of a problem of Commander's ranking as the commander can always look at your grades, Form 1206 and FT report.

We had 2 cadets transfer in my 100 year. One came in as a 300, the other came in as a 400 with 2 years left of study. They assimilated quickly. They're both on track to graduate when they planned and I doubt it has affected their commander's ranking since the cadre members change like every 2 years. Idk if they do this on purpose, but it seems like the changeovers are staggered. Every 2 years a few captains leave, in two more years the Det Commander leaves, and so on. Everyone only stays for about 4 years. If this is your dream school go for it. Good luck to you.

Typically NonDucor it is done on purpose because it creates stability during the PCS season. Usually it is a 3 year tour so basically 1/3rd will PCS annually.
~ This is true for ADAF. You rarely will ever see a Wing King/Queen PCS at the same time as the OG or Vice Wing. You need to have one of them with some experience at that base at all times.

Could you imagine if everyone was routed out within weeks of each other at a ROTC unit? Yes, they can rely on reviewing everybody's, records, but also remember they are learning the system too.
~ They PCS during the summer, but even though you might not be there, they are prepping for the next year, including reviewing the FY budget that will start Oct.1.
~~ They will be there for the college orientations.
~~ They will be there adding onto your file when you complete SFT.
~~ They will be there meeting with the University.
~~~ ROTC units at many colleges lease their buildings. They make money cleaning up the FB stadiums and the college is in charge of giving out those dates. In turn, that needs to be placed into their schedules for the cadets when they return in the fall.
FWIW,
When I posed those questions it was not to say don't do it, just saying think about it and talk to the college you want to transfer to in the fall.
~ If there is even one class that is mandated by the incoming college, but is only offered 1x a year than your graduation date can be set back.
~~ If that occurs you need their approval to delay your commissioning.
My DS2 is not ROTC, but he did transfer colleges as a rising Jr. He will be a Dec. grad. The reason why is 1 class for his major is only offered 1x a year and the way his college set it up it was impossible to graduate on time unless he was really proactive a year ago and took some prereqs during the summer. We never saw it coming, thus he didn't take that one summer course.
Colleges are businesses. That is why many state in fine print that the last 60 credits must be from their school.
Just make sure you can graduate on time and you'll be good.
We have a current 300 who got a pilot slot, and it is his first year here...he's doing fantastically and is a great cadet and person...if you like the school, I don't see why not!
This makes sense on what is supposed to happen in ROTC in mine though we are possibly loosing all but one of our cadre over summer. They told us there is a good chance they will be gone when we get back after summer break.
Is it possible to get your commissioning date pushed back if you change from non tech to tech. Also, if after I think about it for a little more and want to try to go to the school I was accepted to should I start by talking to my detachment commander about it?
You have to add in that younger ranks might get offered PME.
The CoC may have taken the assignment as their last assignment
Hence, the CoC and a PMS now will leave, but still remember there will be at one least and most likely the HR....NCO.
You see that is my point Do you actually think the one left in the unit is not going to be asked by the incoming officers, ...tell me....what is your opinion about cadet Janie Smith or Johnny Jones?
Sorry, but an O5/6 knows how to read between the lines. They have written the OPR/PRFs.
They may leave, but somebody will be left and that person will have a one on one with the leadership.
~ Granted the new CoC might choose their new golden cadet, but they sure as ssshhhheaaaattt won't fight for a cadet if it means risking their career.
~~~ O4 PMSs are looking for O5 promotions. If the national avg for SFT is 83% and their unit has 55% they have problems.

That is the thing. You believe they place you above them. CoCs and O4s with 16 years probably do, but otherwise, they probably care more about the % that get SFT or rated so they have a bullet. For their OPR/PRF.

Sorry

Yes going non tech to tech is an easier path.

Talk to yourv CoC. They will support you.

They will tell the incoming CoC why you are a great cadet.

My friend did it and I don't think she had much trouble with it, except she had to move from a four year program to a five year one. It was no big deal since she was an engineering major already, and had full support from both commanders. She will spend the fifth year as an ECP cadet.

Keep your detachment commander on board with everything. He will be able to help you more the more and the sooner you tell him and keep him posted about things. I am sure he will support you, especially if you are telling him earlier rather than later. Even if it is just a thought, just go ask about the process. He will ask if you're thinking about it, then say yes. Just make sure you have a concrete why this is important to you answer. The detachment commanders can do a lot to make a process less painful if they have the time and knowledge to so so.
