I have a question that I could not find a hint of an answer on this forum. Can one apply to USMA on a 4 year AROTC Scholarship? I am interested in USMA because I think I would be challenged there and you have no debt. I had to make a decision this fall as two interviews were on the same day. Is there a process to this or is an utter impossibility?

Hardknock96 If I recall a transfer to USMA is no issue. I believe I read in the contract agreement for the 4 year about what happens if you flat out quit that you may have to pay however. Remember that around 20 to 30% of the class at USMA has completed atleast one year of college. I hope to see you next year!

Who would I get a nomination from going to a school such as FSU or Norwich?

You would apply for nominations from your same MOCs as before, unless you changed residency and you would also qualify to apply for an ROTC nomination.

The thing about Norwich is your classmates might see you as abandoning them. You will be very busy and may not be able to get off post for interviews or struggle getting your file complete while meeting the demands of school.

It's all about attitude. If you are a good cadet and work hard, you will be supported. If all you do is talk about reapplying and give an attitude you are better than your classmates... Not going to go well. The chain of command will support you (this includes LORs, time for interviews, etc) if you are a professional and give ROTC and Corps 100% effort. Time management is a huge part of college and being an officer. There is time to do your application. It's all about juggling priorities. All of this goes for any Cadet who wishes to reapply and is in ROTC at a regular school or SMC.

Agree with NavyHoops. You need to think of your ROTC school or SMC as your school. DS never spoke to any cadets about reapplying, although that was the plan from day one. He would've been happy to stay there, as he loved it. I hope he will be as happy at West Point.
