I received the 4 year Marine NROTC Scholarship to a school I was not accepted to. I requested a change to a different school about a week ago, does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to approve or deny the change. Also, will they send you an email confirming that they have received your request?

I don't know the time frame but have you contacted the NROTC unit at the school where you want to go? They only have so many scholarship slots and you should check to see if they have any available. After my son received his scholarship last year, we went to visit the unit over spring break and someone had just called who wanted to switch to the unit but his Lt. told them that they were full.

Good luck!

I'm in the same boat. Received the NROTC-MO scholarship and was placed at my number three choice, where I was not accepted... I sent in a transfer to Norwich and was denied. I was told to just wait it out.

My son's in the same boat . Only he has been at Norwich this year and his Scholarship was awarded to Florida University. He is hoping they will let him transfer it. He sent the paperwork in last Monday via email. Have you heard anything yet?

I've gotten a response saying that the transfer may take longer than usual because of the amount they have received. I hope it doesn't take too much longer though.

Did they email you the response ? Did you send yours in via email? Just wondering how we would know they got it. He sent it a week ago and hasn't gotten anything back saying they received it.

Folks, I assume you got something similar to my DS in all your paperwork but just in case you didn't...

This is 4 years old but hopefully it still applies. Some excerpts:

School change "requests normally take 5-7 working days to process (during our peak season from April to June, it may take longer). You will receive a letter that indicates that your request has been approved and your scholarship has been moved, or that you have been placed on a waiting list."

"Please allow at least 3 weeks for mail and processing before attempting to contact us about the status of your request. During our peak season, you may find it easier to contact us via email than by phone. You may also check the status page of the NROTC website to determine if your assigned school has been changed."

"If a school change request is disapproved, you will automatically be placed on the waiting list."

"In general, no wait list will show any movement until after May 15th. Wait lists are worked every two weeks after that."

Once again, I caution that this is 4 years old and may not apply anymore. Your acceptance packages would have the most up to date information.

Emilie, Flanker and My4USMC: I just had a thought. As you know, the USMC doesn't care what you major in. You could contact the admissions department at the school where the scholarship was offered and check into changing majors in order to gain acceptance. Sometimes, admissions denies an application based on the chosen major - perhaps switching WITH a scholarship in hand will seal the deal.

I know this worked for at least one Marine option in my son's unit.

Good luck.

They did email me. They just said "I am processing NROTC Unit wait lists for Marine option scholarships for the remainder of this week. Expect a delay in my reply unless you are responding to an email that I sent regarding placement off of the wait list."

Thank you Emilie . USMCgrunt my son got a tier one scholarship and has been at Norwich for this whole year so he cannot change his major from Mechanical Engineering.
