Hello All,

To those who have an appointment, has anyone received their permission to report package? I thought that mine would have come in by now? Maybe it's still to early though. I'm sure USNA will get it to me! Thanks!

I heard they were supposed to mail out this week. So maybe sometime in the next couple weeks we'll have them in hand.

There is already a thread on this subject with a link you can use to access your portal. The entire PTR package is on your portal in electronic form. It also states the hard copy has been mailed.

Interesting thing though is that if you click on the electronic version it comes up as the Class of 2018 PTR package. I doubt that there is going to be much of a difference between 2018 and 2019 but we are going to wait on the snail mail version before completing any forms just to be safe. I believe I read somewhere that the e-version can be used if you need another copy of a form from the mailed package.

I'm sure some of the forms wont change on the electronic form. Some of these forms have deadlines that needs to be snail mailed. DS already filled some out to get a head start even before the PTR arrives.

With the SF-86, be extremely meticulous! Double check and triple check (it might be a good idea for parents to independently review the form for accuracy) to make sure all time periods are covered and that you aren't "accidentally" off by one digit in your SSN, selective service number, etc. All of the information you provided could be acted upon and if it doesn't match...well then you have some explaining to do.

Just some friendly advice from someone who has processed 1000s of SF-86s--I can tell you that you do not want to leave any stone unturned. Make sure you put a check mark in every box whether it is a "yes" or a "no"; if the area does not apply to you--indicate such by placing a "N/A" or "does not apply" in the area. The one block that trips alot of people is the "Dual Citizenship" block. When I would review a SF-86 that had that block empty, I would have to take time and call the individual to verify whether they had dual citizenship or not. This is a very important block and most people skip right over it. The best thing to remember with the SF-86 is that every block in every section must have an answer whether it is a yes/no or does not apply, etc...it must have an answer. The individual MUST account for everything asked for within the timeframe asked for or they slow down the process and make the security background check very painful for not only them but for the investigator doing the check. Good Luck to all.

Agreed! We are waiting for hard copy as well. Hopefully arriving soon!

I can't remember from my son's PTR packet for the Class of 2017 if it included his company assignment. If any of you have already received yours, I'd love to be reminded. Thank you in advance.
