Any CIET updates?

My DS picked something up today, which included his plane tickets, so I am thinking it is orders. They also received a packing list and were issued their gear. He is the very first date...perhaps a guinea pig???

2015 summer CIET --

Proud parent of AROTC scholarship son:
1. Date of first session -- June 6 through July 2.
2. Date of final session -- July 17 through Aug 12. (May be other sessions, but I was not told dates.)
3. Graduation dates are tentative because curriculum may not have been covered, and administrators have the right to extend graduation date by a day or two if students need more time. Firm graduation dates will be released during the actual sessions.
4. My son was given the choice of sessions, so he opted for late session so he could squeeze in summer classes at his own expense.
5. He has not received packing list.
6. Hotels on post are booked full for my son's graduation time.
6. Information in telephone interview 17 April with a CIET staffer at Fort Knox.

Goodness, so that makes it a bit hard to plan on going down for the Family Day and graduation if they can change it. My son is the first session - hopefully by your sons last session, Okie, they will have the bugs ironed out!

My son is heading to Btn HQ in the morning to pick up equipment and 'stuff'.

Anyone know the exact dates for Session 3? And should we book a hotel for around the last day of the session for now to ensure we are there for graduation?

That might be a good idea. I also noticed from last year's LDAC site that Family Day has traditionally been the day before graduation.

I think we are going to just book a few days and we can trim that down as necessary.

Being the curious mom here(my DS is supposed to ask about this, but he moves so slowly...)....DS has his plane tickets and a few papers on daily schedule, etc for CIET, 1st session. However, he does not have actual orders in hand. Does their battalion give them those, or does he print them from someplace?

You all who are posting about CIET Family Day: you're just speculating about the dates and making hotel arrangements based on the dates of your cadet's session, and the notion that last year Family Day was the day before graduation? Does anybody have any real info on this?

100% speculation at this time Payitforward. Don't book a hotel room that you can't cancel! We booked one for several days around what is currently the last day. We will change the reservation to what we really need when the time comes, but at least this way we already have a hotel pretty close.

My son was at BTN HQ today. They told him the end dates may be shifting a bit. He is in the 3rd session, and they will cut travel orders/tickets at a later date. He was issued any gear he was missing, and did a 'bunch of paperwork'. I have no idea if the paperwork was related to CEIT at all.

He got his real first taste of hurry up and wait.

They did adjust DS's end date according to what he was originally told. He was told July 6th (I think ) originally, but the end date is now July 2nd. Seems like if they adjust it at the last minute it would really mess up the plane tickets to come home. They did have paperwork for CIET which was related to medical forms and an "application" or 2 of some sort.

I got my confirmed dates 7/12-8/9 I think they are still trying to figure out the end dates, but I'm happy I finally got confirmed dates and still able to take the summer course I signed up for!

Do we know that there's actually going to BE Family Days and Graduations?

On that note is this such a big deal that we as parents should consider even going? I suppose I will ask my DS to see if he even wants us to attend. Might wait until next year and go to CLC or whatever they are going to call it next year.

Other parents have taken offense to this in the past, but in the grand scheme of things this graduation is nothing. If you're close by and haven't been around many military things, you may find it interesting. If you are incorporating it into an already planned vacation, cool. If you're traveling across the country for a couple hours with DD/DS expecting a grand show, you may be disappointed. It all depends on what you're wanting to do. I told my parents not to even waste the trip coming, but others have found that "offensive" to parents.

I'm just trying to provide the basic info about the existence of any Family Day and Graduation opportunities to the parents in our parents group. If these events exist, parents should at least be given the option of knowing about it so they can make a decision about whether to go or not. And if hotels are already booked, then SOMEBODY knows something we haven't been told a single thing about. That drives me nuts.

Remember that any reference to a Family Day for last year is not really relevant for this year, since the only training at Ft. Knox last year was LDAC and that does not exist anymore.

I have a feeling Cadet Command is going to have their hands full this summer with having two new training sessions going on at the same time (CLC and CIET) I have another feeling that some of these graduation days may overlap between courses.

Cadet Command will be very busy just getting these two new courses up to speed, I would imagine any Family Day will be far down on their priority list and details could change by the day.

We opted to skip the whole mess last year and saved what we would have spent going to Knox on a great trip with our son when he arrived home. He told us that all he wanted to do when LDAC was over was leave Knox as quickly as possible and come home....his CTLT was prior to LDAC.

That's what I was thinking. Just wish they would update their website to say something basic like... no FD or Grad ceremonies this year... or... be on the lookout for FD and Grad ceremony details coming soon. Having it or not having it? That is the question.
