Did anyone turn down the waitlist?

As May 1 approaches I can't help but wonder not only about the percentage of people who will accept their appointments, but what percentage of kids stayed on the waitlist. I would guess that not very many said "no thanks".

My DD asked to stay on it. Others?

DS elected to remain on it as well and Sat will be putting his deposit in at his plan B choice-Cal Poly.

TV4--I'm so happy you posted this. For months I've been tracking a number of 2019 hopefuls and everyone suddenly disappeared. They were replaced with STEM and NASS folks asking questions (which I find myself not that interested in). So, YAY!, thanks to you I am up to date on some of the people I'm thinking about. I keep a list by my desk and thoughts go out to all of the families every day. My DH thinks this is very odd but I have grown attached to the stories and the hopes and dreams of all. Would love to know the updates in LawyerLynn, mb1395, sleepmaster, usnaco2019hopeful, flyingtiger, cooperM, punkparents and more. I don't know. This could all mean that I am in need of a "service academy forum" intervention--which he claims is the case!

We've all become extended family in a lot of ways...this process is unique among "college-bound" seniors and other parents ask about it and are amazed at what it takes-and how long etc.
Thank you all for being here for each other.
Let's hope we all get good news and congrats to all who have placed that deposit on the plan B.

DS chose to remain on the wait list. However, he's very excited about his alternate plan A; NROTC at USD, and if offered an appointment to USNA he'd gladly accept it.

I hope all DD's & DS's are having a great ending to their senior year. May each and everyone of you have many blessings.

DS stayed on the list as well. He found a roommate for his plan B school that was a USNA applicant as well. They have so much in common that my spirits are lifted for plan B being a good year. His Blue and Gold officer reached out today, as she was not aware of his application status yet. He may well be riding the roller coaster again, or God may have directed him to plan B- only time will tell. May everyone finish their senior year strong and be proud of all they've done!

We heard a local waitlisted candidate turned down waitlist and accepted offer to USMA. We wanted him to go USNA but USMA got a good guy...

I stayed on but I'm not expecting to get off it this year so I have paid a deposit at BYU and accepted an AFROTC scholarship. Marine recruiter called yesterday and asked what my plans were after high school. When I told him and he was kinda shocked and just said "welcome to the military" and hung up.

DS chose to stay in Waitlist, as well, but has paid deposit and committed to Cornell, where his NROTC scholarship is. If a BFE arrives, it'll be very interesting to see what happens.

nodiva ~ I am so touched that you've been following all these candidates and humbled that we were on your list. Your positive thoughts and well wishes must have pushed my DD's process over the top  She was excitedly signing her life away last night as her PTR arrived over the weekend. Truly blessed that she'll be attending her dream school.
We, too, hope the best for all those still waiting and hoping!!

Daughter went to Cornell on a NROTC scholarship, son is at USNA. :) Good luck!
