CHs97 - My DS just withdrew his acceptance to the Citadel (regrettably) after months (if not a year) of trying to seek some relief from the out-of-state tuition. He has a strong resume but fell short on the AROTC Scholarship process which really put the Citadel in the "rear-view" mirror. They seem to have very few academic and general scholarships available and we were extremely active in contacting those within and around the school seeking any additional resources to off-set the cost (any help would have been appreciated). To be honest, the only response was "come here and try to win a brigade scholarship"...but at $42K a year (after year 1) and the continuing drawbacks, that's a near $180K bet I wasn't willing to make. Nothing against the school but Norwich, Texas A&M, North Georgia all found ways to make far more compelling offers that, as a parent, just seemed more sensible on all fronts (well-regarded programs at a reasonable cost). Wasn't an issue of they being a public or private school. I wish you luck but I suspect the only option you're going to see is to work hard for a brigade ROTC deal if/when you arrive your first year.
