My DD has won an AROTC scholarship to one school and has been medically qualified with a waiver. She also won an AFROTC scholarship to another school but is still waiting on her waiver to be approved. Her first choice is AFROTC and she has made her deposits for that school. The question is....can she commit to the AROTC scholarship school (as a back up if the Air Force doesn't waive her)? The AROTC school is waiver both of her tuition and housing deposits.

Yes she can accept both, and then decline after she makes her final decision.

She can surely accept both scholarships, but many consider it unethical to commit to more than one school, save for certain reasons. Ethics aside, if she passed the DoDMERB for one ROTC, I see no reason she wouldn't pass for the other. Plus, I mean, this is a lot of money we're talking about... I would recommend getting in contact with the admissions people of each of the schools and maybe talking to them about the issue (DD likes school B but is still waiting to hear about a big scholarship to school A)

Hope this helps! Congrats on the success so far!

Not a safe assumption. Each service has somewhat different criteria... something that may pass for one may not be acceptable to the other.[

I agree with kinnem. That is not an assumption I would make at all. Waivers are branch related. DoDMERB only conducts the exams. Waivers are authorized by the commissioning source.

I do agree with Axxif that you should contact the bursar/FA office at the AFROTC college. I would also say to think about this long and hard even if the waiver comes through.

AFROTC is not like AROTC scholarship. AFROTC scholarship is a 2 +2 scholarship. That means as a sophomore if not selected for summer field training (SFT/EA) the chances are they will disenroll you. That means the last 2 years will be on your dime.
~ This past year it landed up being close to 90% selection rate. LY it was under 60%. The year before that it was 90%. Point is nobody knows when accepting the scholarship as a HS senior what the selection rate will be two years in.

Thanks for the information Pima. We do understand the 2+2 scholarship of AFROTC. She still would prefer the Air Force. We just don't know if we should commit to the Army school also. I don't want to step on any toes. I am not sure if we should call the AROTC school and explain or just commit and then decline when (thinking positively) the AFROTC waiver comes thru??
