I got an email with a candidate number with my confirmation email for NASS. Is this going to be my candidate number through out the process? I'm filling out nomination source documents and don't want to make a mistake.

Just FYI: Last year my son received his candidate number with his NASS paperwork also. During the summer we received a letter saying that many numbers in our area had to be changed and my son was issued a new number. I know there was a reason but I can't recall why. Too much other information to remember when it comes to USNA, my brain is fried! :)

My son too received a different number from his NASS acceptance candidate number.

When DS was labeled an "official candidate" he rec'd his candidate number and the letter specifically said he should reference it on all USNA related correspondence, requests etc.

Interesting. It's news to me to hear that candidate ID numbers change. In the past, the CID# you received on your NASS selection letter was yur number for the duration.

JTBC, DS never went to NASS, he applied and USNA used that application to determine he was eligible to apply for direct appointment and at that point assigned him his candidate #

For those not going to NASS, when do CID#'s go out? I've heard everything from mid May to June. Thanks

DS got his official candidate letter in early June 2013 and it was dated May 28.

FYI - He attended NASS session 3 that year so got this before.

Thanks mjp & shawshank. DS and I were trying to plan his CFA around the busy summer schedule.

Your really don't need the candidate number to do the CFA. As long as you follow the instructions and have the required official fill out the printable sheet, it later can be transcribed electronically by the official once you can send them the online form. The instructions are posted under "steps for admission" on the Admissions website.

Train for it and practice it multiple times under the exact conditions required. you-tube the bb throw for technique and run run run.
try to max out everything you can.

Yes indeed! We actually practiced for the first time last night. Just working on technique improved almost 25ft from the first try. I have read on here that there is a slight bump in admissions for having a strong CFA. Our DS is quite physically fit for his sport right now, but we need to work on getting his time down in the mile run. Looking to do the actual test in June. So much has changed since my time prepping back in the 80's!

I went ahead and emailed admissions and they said it's the same candidate number
