"A U.S. Naval Academy midshipman heading home on leave was among the six people killed when a New York-bound Amtrak train jumped the tracks in Philadelphia.

Justin Zemzer, 21, of Rockaway Beach, New York, was on leave and on his way back home when he was killed, his mother told our sister station NBC New York.

The Naval Academy says it notified the brigade of midshipmen, staff and falculty of Zemzer's death Wednesday morning. The school will make grief counselors available for anyone who needs one."

God speed to his family. God speed to all of the victims of this horrific accident.

Very sorry to hear that. Prayers for Midshipman Zemzer and his family (along with all those affected by this accident).

Heartbreaking news, my thoughts go out to his entire family and the USNA community.

That's 5 midshipman killed in the last 18 months.

Such sad news. Prayers to the family, friends and shipmates of this midshipman.

Freda,

When did the other midshipmen die?

Freda,

Geez. Horrible. All different classes too. Thanks for sharing the other info.

Terrible, My prayers for the families. Train was going 100 mph when it left the tracks. There were a lot of announcements for redirecting trains in Penn Station Newark today.

Again my thoughts with the families.

Our prayers for the midshipman and all those involved in this terrible accident.

Thoughts and prayer go out to the families and the Midshipmen. It's a rough year indeed AFA had two as well. That's seven in just two of the five Academies that I know off the top of my head.

What a terrible and horrific loss. Prayers going out to his family.

Such a waste. What a wonderful young man. Thoughts and prayers to his family and to his USNA family.

I had a chance to meet Justin on two different occasions. He was a genuinely kind and hard working guy, so sorry to hear of this loss.

Thoughts and Prayers to the family of the midshipman and to the USNA family, from the USMMA family.

The Blue Angels perform the "Missing Man" formation to honor Midshipman Justin Zemser, who was killed in the north Philadelphia train derailment May 12, 2015.
