I know this is silly but does anyone have advice on what socks are the best for swab summer?

Welcome to the world of 'motivated socks'! DS reported in with Wigwam Super 60 Tube Socks. Even though you'll throw them away after swab summer, invest in decent socks. Your feet will appreciate it.

Katrina are you a parent or incoming Swab and have you joined either 2019 FB Group? You will most likely be able to see some photos of previous years incoming swabs wearing their 'motivated socks'.

We ordered extended size (Kid wore a size 12 shoe) from JC Penny online for our 6'3 swab. Those suckers came up to his knee cap!

Wicking socks are a must. Most sporting goods stores (Sports Authority, Dick's, etc.) will have "all sports" socks in white that are knee high and are made of wicking material with no logos.

I don't have the information booklet for the incoming class. However, read the fine print on socks. In the past they needed to be tube socks, over the calf. Tube socks are (at least were) necessary to properly fold.

I'm not sure if you have to bring black socks too, but if you do, I'd recommend cotton over other materials. In my experience, when we started wearing black socks over the summer, the cotton ones just worked better for me. They absorbed some of the sweat, so it didn't just cook in my shoes (leathers and boots). I also had dressier black socks which did not work as well. After the summer, when we weren't beating the crap out of our feet, those nicer socks worked just fine, but during the summer, it was good to have tough socks.

I'm not sure how advanced our socks were in 2002.

Your feet can get pretty nasty, all day in leathers or boots or running shoes. My toenails turned black (because of my socks). As swabs we wanted to be ready each morning, so some would try to wear socks to bed (remember Chase Hall had no A/C at the time). Cadre would check to ensure swabs weren't wearing their socks to bed.

I feel like we were issued socks too, but I could be wrong. I had Gold Toes…. I do know that. HA!

I will say that at least the black socks, both dress and boot, issued are terrible. I've worn them both. My son begged for 6 pr of black socks that would meet regs for Christmas.

Thank you so much everyone!!
