Would anyone comment on the process of reviewing thousands of applications? Do they look for certain criteria right off the top in order to narrow the field? Do they really take time to read the essays and letters to make an informed decision that's based on more than scores and the like?
What does an acceptance envelope look like? Business sized? thin/thick?
I am new here but being hopeful for my son!

Acceptances have been in the big envelopes (9x13)
(No. 10 sized envelopes are not what we want.)

Maybe Luigi, Objee or LITS can answer those other questions.

Yes, they do. Each applicant's file is completely read and reviewed by the CCEB. The essays are read and graded for various attributes, as are the letters of recommendation. The essay allows the candidate to talk directly to the CCEB, it is one of the key parts of the entire application file.

It is a holistic review. There is no single predictor of success nor is there a single formula of measuring the potential of applicants. However, they are looking for indications and demonstrations of motivation, merit/achievement, determination, and above all, character.

It (the appointment envelope) is a large (11x13?) heavy-thick paperboard envelope. You definitely do not want to see a letter-sized envelope from the USCGA anytime soon.

R-Day in 122 days.

My conditional appointment came in a small standard envelope ..but after I had my DoDMERB exam the full appointment came in a large, thick envelope.
