Joining ROTC late (college junior) and as a transfer student

I'm not currently enrolled in college but I'm looking to transfer into a new school with an ROTC program, and I'll have Junior academic standing. I know I'll have to complete the Leader's Training Course the summer before I enroll as a junior if I want to be a part of ROTC (I did not participate in the MS 1 and 2 years).

It's currently Summer 2015, I'd be looking to enroll in Fall 2016. Can/should I contact the Cadre for the ROTC I'm looking at or will they be hesitant to speak with me since I haven't yet been accepted to (or even applied to) the college? Shouldn't be a problem to get accepted into the college with my grades and extracurriculars (knock on wood). It just seems like a funky timeline with applying and getting accepted to the school and doing the same for the ROTC program before the summer. Is this even possible?

My main concern with the timeline is getting medically cleared before Summer 2016 so I can go to LTC, I'm going to need to apply for a psoriasis waiver I'm sure.

Thanks for any help!

I don't know about the timing regarding LTC/waiver, but I bet the leadership at the ROTC battalion your interested in joining would have an idea. Just be aware they may not be fully staffed during the summer and you may have to wait for a response. I would call and follow up with an e-mail with whoever the ROO at the unit is. My DS is a rising MSIV who is currently at CLC and I believe I remember him saying that LTC was going to become rarer with the introduction of CIET, but I could be remembering that incorrectly. If it's what you really want...do not hesitate. I would call today.

There is a very good chance that LTC will no longer be an option. At this point Cadet Command is not taking any new Cadets into the class of 2017. That being said, it can't hurt to talk to the cadre at your intended school, but don't be surprised if they tell your there is no room.

I believe the days of coming late to the game are over.

I agree with Clark on this. No need for LTC with CIET and CLC programs.
