Hello, I've recently sent my CFA scores from West Point SLE to the Air Force Academy, and I was notified that my scores needed to improve. They also suggested that I redo the CFA on or before July 28. However, no one can administer my CFA until August when my school-year starts. How can I change the deadline for the second CFA? Thank you.

There must be SOMEONE who can administer this exam. Call your high school, call your coach, call your ALO.

If you can't find anyone, then I suggest you contact USAFA admissions and ask for an extension. No guarantee that they will do that, but if you don't ask, the answer is always "no".

Honestly, your ALO may not have the time given that being an ALO is a volunteer position, but again - it never hurts to ask.

Are you sure that is the deadline for you to take the CFA? That seems ridiculously early. Just because they suggest you to take the CFA early does not mean you must take it early. They probably tell every candidate it is in his or her best interest to take it early.

What is the exact thing that they told you?

This is what they said in my mailbox.

"Schedule your CFA after you have practiced and are confident that you can improve on your scores but no later than Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Print out a new instructions packet and take it to the individual who will administer your CFA. Good Luck!"

If I remember correctly, in the CFA literature, they specified the people who could give you the exam. I believe there was some sort of option at a local military base. I am not positive on this, but this is an avenue you could check in to.

"Your examination may be administered by any physical education teacher, Service Academy Liaison Officer or AFJROTC Instructor. Any active duty commissioned officer may administer the CFA for service members. It is your responsibility to arrange for a qualified person to conduct your examination. "

"A low overall score or a poor score in an individual event may be disqualifying. If the first CFA test entered into our system is disqualifying we will request a second test as long as your first test was taken on or before December 31st. After that date you may only be able to test once. If both tests are disqualifying we will close your file. If you submit your first CFA after December 31st and it is disqualifying, your file will be closed."

Above quotes from: http://www.academyadmissions.com/wp...tructions_to_Precandidates__Class_of_2016.pdf

Since the Instructions to Precandidates indicates CFA sores can be submitted even after December 31st, I think you should call admissions and ask why you have due date of 28 July.

Are you trying to meet an "early admissions" deadline?

Falcon, deadlines are changed this year, and are 4 months from when the app was opened.

My sons' ALOs administered the exams at the local Y. USMA, I trust you have been preparing for the CFA all along?

July 28 still seems ridiculously early. On my portal it says my CFA is not due until November 10th.

frenzy, "ridiculously early" or not, if that's what he's told, that's what USMA is told. Perhaps it is because he submitted them first to USMA? I am not an admissions counselor, so I can't say. But, I do know that ALL deadlines are shortened this year and a prospective cadet or mid would do well to keep a calendar close to hand.

If I were him I would contact my admissions counselor and/or ALO about the situation. They may have made an error in the letter or they may be able to push the deadline back.

USMAHopeful97, on my portal under "Your application is:" it says "In order to be considered for an appointment, you must complete the following forms and/or take the approriate actions by November 10, 2015." Under that it says "USAF Academy Candidate Fitness Assessment". Does your portal have a different date? Is "USAF Academy Candidate Fitness Assessment" not listed where it's listed on mine?

Frenzy, when did you open your portal?

and, one wonders: why are you not studying or at football practice? (the (s)mother in fencersmother rears her ugly head).

It opened four days ago, on the tenth of July at 4:04 AM.

I finished football practice already, it ended several hours ago. Where I come from football practice does not take all day. There's not really anything to study.

OK, that's why your cut off is 10 Nov, because you opened it 10 July. New rules this year. Get a calendar and look at it every day.

Frenzy and others: are you not preparing to retake the SAT/ACT again (and again and again)? Did you score an 800 on both CR and M? A 36 on all parts of the ACT?

OF COURSE YOU SHOULD BE STUDYING!

Frenzy, this is USMA's re-take of his CFA. I am assuming (loaded word) that you have not submitted your first CFA scores as of yet. I agree with the others, if they say have it done by the 28th of July, then he had better have it done. It is a gift that they are letting him try it again and not one that he should overlook. USMA, take heed and get on the phone and call some people that can administer it. Seek out your local JROTC units, call your ALO; even if he/she can't do it, they may know someone who can. Time is wasting! Good luck.

No, I do not have a 36 on all parts of the ACT and/or 800 on both CR and math on the SAT.

However, once you get to a certain point on the ACT there is nothing left to study and your score is determined by getting a good test and not making careless mistakes. I feel like I have reached that point.

Additionally, my BGO told me he doesn't see much of point in me retaking the ACT and and FFR told me the same thing. Along with that, I saw someone on here asking an ALO if her daughter should stop taking the SAT. The ALO said yes and my ACT converts to a higher SAT score than what that person.

That being said, I do intend on retaking the ACT until I get a 36 in every section. But, I don't think there is anything left to study. I think that to get a 36 in each section I just have to get the right test and not make careless mistakes.
